┌━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┐
In a moonlit clearing, a dying pearlcatcher lays on a soft bed of moss. Her hide is covered with gaping sores, oozing a putrid yellow liquid and every so often she moans softly from the pain. Around the suffering dragon are a ring of bones arranged in a precise pattern, each inscribed with a mysterious language. A Skydancer stands on the outside of the circle, a small fire burning behind her.

The Skydancer thrusts a bundle of twigs into the fire until they alight and a sharp aroma fills the air, along with a deep red smoke. Softly at first, almost in a whisper, the Skydancer begins to chant in an unintelligible language. The fire wavers briefly and then burn brighter than before, its flames moving wildly about as if they were dancing in time to the healer’s chanting. Her voice rises louder and louder and the flames behind her shoot higher in response, causing strange shadows to dance around the clearing, across the skin of both the healer and diseased. The white skeleton pattern painted on the Skydancer’s hide seems to come to life in the firelight, but the pearlcatcher at her feet is in too much pain to notice these things. As the chanting grows even louder, however, she begins to feel a soothing warmth creep over her skin, sighing in relief as the sensation spreads to the most heavily afflicted areas. The pearlcatcher watches in awe as her lesions begin to gradually shrink-- already some of the smaller ones are almost completely closed. Tears spring to her eyes as the pain begins to recede faster and faster, the pain she had been a victim to her entire life. The Skydancer smiles down at her patient, continuing her chanting, and with a flourish of her talons, the words inscribed in the bones surrounding the pearlcatcher begin to glow a brilliant red, as if sparks from the fire had ignited them. The Skydancer is panting heavily now, and it is clear the healing power she channels is taking its toll. And yet, she continues, screeching her words to the night sky. They rise with the embers shot out by the fire, and the bloodred smoke, an offering to the deity she serves.

Nganga is a highly skilled witch doctor who uses spiritual rituals and ceremonies to cure dragons of otherwise incurable diseases. No one in the clan who has witnessed her powers doubts her abilities. In fact, news of her healing prowess has spread across Sorneith, and dragons from all flights come to Xayxayx clan territory to seek her help. The ailments she cures are not ones that can be treated by common medicinal practices, like the kind the clan’s healer Izrea provides. As a result, there exists a certain rivalry between the two. If Izrea’s methods fail to heal a suffering patient, Nganga often swoops in to offer her own services (and vice versa). Ever the pragmatic, Izrea is often frustrated when Nganga manages to heal a patient that in the coatl’s mind was incurable, but although it may seem impossible, Nganga’s methods do actually work. Unlike Izrea’s work; however, there is usually a cost for Nganga’s services. Desperate dragons are willing to pay any price for the gift of a healthy life, and in Izrea’s mind, the witch doctor exploits this knowledge without any regard for her patients. While it is true Nganga collects a fee for her services, she protests that this payment is an offering to the Plaguebringer, in exchange for channeling her power through her humble servant. Although Izrea may not believe this claim, KucKuc does, and has accepted Nganga as a full-fledged clan member. Most of the other clan members are accepting of her rank, and appreciate the influx of visiting dragons she attracts to the clan’s territory. These guests often stay within the clan’s territory for days or even weeks while awaiting treatment, and partake in many other services the clan has to offer in addition to paying for a room and hunting rights in the clans territory.
