Birds chirped, leaves bristled, branches creaked and the wind blew softly. It guided itself through the trees, large friends with enormous branches and great amounts of leaves attached to such branches. It was a calm morning, nothing much was happening inside of this ancient forest. Lets follow the wind, shall we? You never know where you end up. As we follow the wind through the trees, we encounter various places. A large acorn tree covered with nests of squirrels who made their home in the bark of the outer layer of the tree, their houses cozy and small, perfect for such a small critter. They jumped around from home to home, stretching their strong and lean legs far and wide to make gracious leaps in the air. Some went down the tree to bury some acorns in their stash, while some kept them inside of their home for safety. Sunlight broke through the leaves after being blown aside by a dark shadow creating more wind, squirrels coming out of their homes to see the shadow move through the leaves, making sure it was not an enemy. The wind carried us to a new location, not spending any more time with the busy rodents. It moved over to a small circle of… mushrooms. They were growing in a perfect and round circle, peacefully expanding their size. The mushrooms did not speak, unlike some of the other plants. They were always silent, never bristling or moving, only growing and vibing on their spot in the circle. The wind moved through the circle, making the mushrooms shake a little on the spot, bothering them playfully. Moving on to a diffrent location quickly to leave them alone. It breezed through leaves, being pulled away by the shadow moving through the leaves. It dashed past branches filled with the green shapes, making them shake and thrill once the shadow passed. Moving rather quickly, it weaved through the forest, passing by locations we have yet to discover, slowing down at a large tree. It landed, folding in its wings. The shape once known as just a shadow became a dragon, being lit up softly by the sunlight coming through the covering roof of leaves. It slithered in through the branches into a clearing ontop of the tree. The place was rather cozy and homey, fancy drapes hung around the branches to make some fake walls, hammocks all over to lay down in and sleep in, maybe even read some of the books that are put on the shelves in a lower ring of the tree. It was slightly hollowed out, like a miniature coliseum, but with bookcases and a lot of trinkets. Some of these trinkets were old dolls left behind by reckless hatchlings, adopted by this large dark dragon and his dearest companion, who was making some tea in an outer ring. The dragon smiled, looking at his companion and shaking his head. “I’m home, What tea are you making? It smells amazing.” He spoke, his voice soft but with a hint of roughness. His companion thrilled her feathered crest, turning her beaked face towards the dragon. She was noticeably smaller, but her smile grew wide at the sight of him. “The sap of sugary prickleaves, A slice of the leaf of a blood spath, and a whole marigold.” The dragoness chirped, turning back to stir in the pot with fluid and herbs. It was softly boiling, a small trail of smoke slithering up into the leaves and further into the sky. “Thats my favourite type.” He muttered, moving over to sit next to his friend. “I know.” A giggle came from the mildly feathered dragon, and she reached to her side to pull out two cups decorated with small, painted pink flowers. She grabbed the teapot and poured both of the cups, setting it back on the softly heated stone they cooked on. The tree was cozy, comfortable. It is undetermined how these two dragons managed to get all these resources in a forest in the middle of nowhere, but they had a lot of things. Warm, soft blankets to decorate the most middle ring, multiple pillows thrown into the centered pit. Some were round, some were square, and some were a totally unique shape. Small jars with fireflies were hung from the branches that covered most of the roof, serving as a soft ceiling lighting at night. Decorative flowers were all around the place, balanced but lightly chaotic at the same time. The colours were all warm shades of orange, red and brown, accented by a soft, light green that looked like mint. Books in the bookshelves in a middle-ish ring were old and worn, loved by many and now loved by two companions in a tree. It were books about healing, plants, history and some even had old maps in them of a land far away called ‘Sornieth’. “Eugene, how is the tea?” The feathered dragon asked, tilting her head to the side to look at the dragon who was named Eugene. He nodded slowly after taking a slow and loud slurp. “Absolutely amazing, pristine, godlike!” Eugene spoke in a very fancy fake accent, laughing after getting a gentle shove from the dragoness who laughed with him. The two finished their tea rather swiftly, washing their cups and throwing water at eachother, playing inside of the tree as if they were two hatchlings. They got tired, heading to the circle in the center, the cozy hole filled with blankets and pillows. Eugene huddled up neatly, his friend dropping down on her back ontop of his side, both of them staring up at the ceiling of leaves and the night sky. “… Goodnight ‘Gene.” She spoke, Eugene was sure that she was smiling, you could almost hear it. “Heh, goodnight.” He replied, staring up at the stars that twinkled through the leaves. The dragon smiled, closing his eyes. |
