Aurarien mate: Vanilor
seer
leader of the Quart, primary seer and sorcerer As one of the clan leaders, Aurarien takes the post of gentle authority as the lesser mother figure of her quartet and the other clan members. She is always seen with a gentle smile and gentler expression, but her eyes are ever steeled and guarded. She does not run a facade, rather keeps certain aspects of her personal experiences and nature sealed away. Quite the perfectionist, Aurarien strives for nothing short of excellence and commits herself to strength and grace. She becomes quite peeved at disorder, but often masks her exasperation for a kinder admonishing. Aurarien is careful to reveal just enough without truly disclosing herself to others, as her greatest qualms come from the idea that one day she might just capitulate under the stress of leadership. However, she thinks it necessary to keep a brave face to others. Only Bastiona, Enosia, and Vanilor know of her fears, and always accommodate for her when she is feeling especially stressed. She, too, is an introvert, so social interaction exhausts her quite easily, but she always tries her best to get to know all of the clan members and spend time with them. She is as much a teacher as she is a seer, so she is one of the first resources that members seek if searching for help in anything ranging from spiritual troubles to alchemical questions. Aurarien certainly doesn't hold all the answers, but she's among the most knowledgeable dragons and can always spare time to offer advice. Origins Aurarien hails from a family of talented mages, many of whom dedicated their arts to scrying and general servitude under the Icewarden. Her birth clan is a peaceful one, albeit very withdrawn, and was the very clan that helped Bastiona settle in the tundra. She was among the best mages within her clan starting from a young age, and was humbly celebrated in a clan that prized modesty and humility along with their mastery of magic. Her natural affinity for magic allowed her to complete and create complex rituals and spells, mentoring the young and old alike. She and Vanilor were betrothed when they were but hatchlings as per custom of the clan. However, their matrimony is a happy one, as the clan based mate pairings on thorough scrying of both parties for optimal results in mana compatibility and general personality. Seeing a new face and a new chance at breaking from her clan's seclusion, Aurarien and her mate agreed to follow their new matriarch. Her previous clan operates on free choice and individuality (the qualities that allowed them to be such great mages), and the elders easily let them choose their path. She and Vanilor were among the first to join Argen, and per Bastiona's request and Aurarien's offer, she took charge of clan sorcery and magick, and later established the Quart, a quartet of powerful seers that help the clan with foresight, prophecy interpretation, scrying, and generally anything that requires magic. |
