imp There’s so much more to plants and potions Than what we can find in just our world And you promised not to stray off the main path For the secrets no one should ever know But there’s so much that can change in a moment And you went chasing after secrets in the dark You started pushing all the limits And tearing your humanity apart And I saw you slowly corrupting For that knowledge comes with heavy loss What happened that changed you and made you Push the boundaries that should not be crossed? You closed your garden to me Went down a path I cannot walk And I told you that you couldn’t control this But you refused to listen to me talk And I’m trying to keep you safe here Even once, just listen to my pleas I’ve always loved you despite your shadows So why can’t you come home back to me? And even so, you still continue Down the path of never turning back As if lulled by some satanic calling That’s drawing you deeper into the black And there’s so much more to plants and potions You can learn without falling into the dark But in your pursuit of that knowledge - Do you know whose heart you're tearing apart?

I’ll do what I want with my garden I’ll take what risks I wish to take And even if you say I can’t hope to control this - My mistakes are mine to make So don’t speak to me of proper conduct You should know better than to rein me in I’ve always known you hated all my shadows My plots, my objectives, and my plans But even so, I must continue I cannot stop walking down this path I can hear the darkness’ sirenic calling And there won’t be any turning back For there’s so much more to plants and potions There’s so much more hidden in the dark I must pursue this knowledge - Even if it means ripping out my heart.

Talking about Rae and Val, lore by me

They're brothers (maybe twins? haven't decided yet), both are herbalists (for lack of a better word). They work with plants, growing, taking care of them, using them to make potions and other stuff (food occasionally) for the clan.

They opposing morally/in some of their practices and interests, (light&dark, good&bad, yin&yang [ish], etc)
Rae (with Bee gene) is the 'good' one, he tries to do what's right (in moral/ethical sense). Represented by how the Bee gene makes his wings look transparent, show transparency with his character/actions. Means what he says/does, doesn't have a 'hidden plan'/'second objective'.

Val (Shimmer gene) is the 'bad'/not so ethically good one, he doesn't always do what's 'right', likes to test more dangerous potions and practices, the less accepted options/way of doing things. Represented by how the Shimmer gene makes his wings solid and not see through, shows there may be more to his words/actions, may be double meaning or other motive/reason.

Rae knows this of Val, knows he can't really stop his brother from doing that so he tries to riegn Val in somewhat (not completely successful, Val will do it some way or another).

If you know MDZS, Rae is like LWJ after WWX is back when they're on the journey to find truth about the hand (he knows what Val is capable of, is able to bring Val back/out if what he's doing if he goes far). Val is like WWX in his orig body, thinks(wants to act and does) outside the box/past the limit everyone else goes. If you don't know MDZS, just ignore this.

They have their own gardens and space for their stuff, Val has a hidden garden for growing 'banned' plants and a different spot(lab basically) for when he works with them.
