Biography
Thya was always a tenacious sort of person. In her home of the Icewarden, she was an accomplished guard. She rose through the ranks relatively easily and commanded her own troops with ease and confidence. There was no challenge that she and her loyal men could not overcome.
Her commanding officer, one of few, soon approached Thya for a specialized mission. There was a disturbance in the Viridian Labyrinth, some sort of magic leaking out-- ice magic. This magic was turning a surrounding clan into strange bone wraiths and creating a swath of permafrost in the middle of the jungle. An impressive feat to be sure, but why was it happening? A swarm of Plague ambassadors were already investigating it, likely wishing to quell any possibilities of necromancy, but if news got out that Ice magic was doing this it could provoke the Gladekeeper into lashing out. They couldn't afford that, not with the new volcanic activity on their borders already.
Immediately, Thya took the job. She and a small squadron of her top men left the ice fields for the jungles. The journey there wasn't too terrible; uneventful as long travels went. Once arriving at the clan positioned closest to the point of interest, however, things began to grow concerning. Those that dwelled on the outer rim of the clan watched them warily, whispers floated in the air around them. There were gentle warnings from the braver few to turn away, to leave, but Thya was not one to be unnerved easily. She had a job to do, after all.
As they went further in, the clan became more aggressive in their warnings. Ice dragons weren't allowed further into the Boneyard, they said. "You're going to die." "You'll never come back." Some even became hysterical, wailing how they've seen enough Ice dragons disappear in the Gloom to last lifetimes. But still, Thya marched on. There was now a song in her and her men's heads, and she needed to investigate it as well as her mission.
The Gloom was difficult. The Song was loud-- too loud. It wouldn't let them sleep. The tangled brambles often changed as they traveled, eventually separating them all in the dark. Without the sun, even as weak as it was in the Boneyard proper, Thya lost all track of time. She simply wandered and wandered until she felt snow beneath her paws.
She'd succeeded. She'd found this "Cold".
