Shrike and Amaris arrived with Amaranth, who was back on one of her many trips through Sornieth. Previously from L'Raj, a village in the Plague nation of Olorine. Shrike's family died on an expedition outside of the village. The lack of help from her sect of The Eleven Priestesses made her very bitter, attributing to her decision to leave Olorine.

Shrike was injured on the trio's journey to the Labyrinth through the edges of Dragonhome and the Tangled Wood. She rested around Amaris' neck like a scarf when she had no energy left to move.

A snippet from Shrike's journal entry, on the trio's exit from Plague: "L'Raj seems to be a safe zone from-- what Amaris calls --the 'unfightable illness', but I just can't stay here. How we had made it out of Olorine alive, I don't know. Amaranth thought nothing of it, of course. She just traipsed into L'Raj like nothing was wrong, jabbering about her fascination with Olorii history, after all."
