SEASTAR
Collector
Sometimes, a lost stone can be more valuable than an unwanted diamond. It cannot be said that Seastar ever formally "joined" the Harpers. Some of the members began to notice her on the periphery of their clan curiously watching their activities for some time, though she never lingered for very long. She seemed particularly drawn to those completely lost in the midst of their craft, blind to the eyes of a stranger silently watching on. When she eventually grew bold enough to study them up close, she became known for startling many with her inerrant focus when they finally broke free from the grip of their craft. After she'd studied -and startled- nearly the whole clan, it is hard to say whether she eventually found them worthy of her presence or decided they needed her supervision, but it became apparent that the days without her were fewer and farther between. Soon, unusual trinkets they'd sworn they threw away started reappearing and eventually Seastar stopped wandering off altogether. Despite her odd collection and behavior, Seastar was often sought out to resolve the many impediments to their creations. Her quiet gaze often provided an assisted focus on a trying task or her quips of wisdom might help another more accurately interpret what they had created. Though Meridian was mildly affronted that she was never asked if the fae might join their little family, it very obviously became a moot point when she saw how thoroughly integrated the fae became in their clan. Though Meridian did miss the times when they were able to actually throw things away. |
______
First, first but not the worst. Spots of cream and spots of blue. Not to eat, but soft to lie. Smells so sweet when forced to rise. Speckled and confused, deep in shades but soft in others. The true colors of the speckled few are known by none.

______
Shed, shed away but not forgotten. Stripes that stretch from end to end, unneeded now but still unbroken. Served its purpose through and through, now collected to be true.

______
Pretty, pretty is the lace so envied. Not just pretty, somewhat eerie, longing for a change. Once decor now something more, once adornment now adored. What once was stunned will soon be stunning. Change is at the door.

Even, even are the shapes that echo. Running free across the plains. A herd unending, always touching, still darkness there but now contained. Shapes are constant but unconfined. The giraffes have chosen to settle here.

______
Rich, rich in color is the mineral blue. Fear the air, for it changes you. Left behind from weathered ore. Worth more to me then the copper core. Deepest as the sea at heart. Streaking bright, not faded yet, alloy's lasting, always living.

Around and around you go, encircling yet neverending. Limitless lines that limit what's contained. Contained, together. The contour completes, held together as whole. A new dragon is born.

Down, down it dove, under the waves until it rose. Again and again, she watched it long, not knowing what the creature sought. Until the time it seemed to find, a bubble break through the surface of the wave it rode. Upon its sight the creature hastened, to collect the thing as she did so.
She watched it add it to her tail, and dive back in the waves that swelled. At once the fae felt kinship toward, and dove in after the nymph of blue. With two eyes the two did find, twice the bubbles plus trinkets more. As Blue grew tired, so did the fae, and together they fell back toward their home. |
