. Platinum is not a desirable color for a coatl. That much she could tell from the way certain coatl guests hummed when she played in the gardens. It came from her mother, a wildclaw who simply wouldn't know what her color could mean. But Vertiver always faced her problems with creative solutions, and this one was no different. Some dyes, some chalks, soon she was the most colorful chick in her clutch. But why stop there? Why not offer some color to everyone else? First to her siblings, then to other hatchlings, eventually she was drawing on the wings of her (very patient) caretaker. As she grew in skill, even visitors begun to inquire about her artworks. As she grew in maturity, she snatched her brush from the maws of fear and insecurity. Now she uses it to paint a smile onto every young coatl she sees herself in.
