As a young dragon overshadowed by his dazzling twin sister, Lycus went on a journey to the Sea of a Thousand Currents, in search of an oracle who might tell him his fortune. His parents chided him for being foolish and selfish, but the stubborn boy went off anyway, now determined to become an oracle himself. Without the lifelong training of a Water dragon, he dove into the deep pools and quickly became trapped in a tunnel, disoriented and out of breath, near drowning...
He doesn't know who or what saved him, only that he found himself back on dry land, gasping for air and tangled with kelp. Lycus returned home at once, and though he never spoke of what happened to him in the Sea, his parents found him to be far more subdued and obedient
