Siani

An independent and wilful mage with a gift for technology. Siani is the inventor responsible for setting up a network of magical barriers that help protect the Arcania Tower. Easily riled up and agitated, she is known for her "furious productivity"; times where she marches off in a rage and channels her anger into whatever work she has left to be completed, often making startling progress in a cloud of muttered curses. This temper often makes her seem the polar opposite of the gentle and almost saintly personality of her mother, Kitt... which is also a guaranteed fury trigger if pointed out to her.

Born blind, a collaboration with The Levinworks led to some degree of sight being granted to Siani through the marvels of technology, granting her the ability to see the very life of the world and birthing her love for science. She still maintains a strong friendship with Vannius for granting her this gift, a bond only made stronger by how alike they are.

Siani harbours resentment towards her father, Sonatino, whose failure to fulfil his promise to return led her to believe he had consciously abandoned both her and her mother to go back to his old flirtatious ways. Originally an imperial just like him, a mounting sense of self-loathing for her resemblance to him caused her to impulsively change her form, choosing to become a pearlcatcher as an added dose of spite. Despite the rashness in this decision, Siani has been far more comfortable in herself since and has been able to move on with her life without feeling haunted by her father. Regardless, the topic remains a sore spot and she stubbornly refuses to be convinced that Sonatino was anything other than a scoundrel.
