Biography
Class: Abnormality Danger Level: Moderate |
A common misconception about Vampyres is that we’re undead, and this actually couldn’t be further from the truth. Vampyrism is a rare genetic mutation that can occur in eggs under the influence of Plague magic. It can show up in any breed, but is most commonly observed in those who regularly consume meat as a major part of their diet. Vampyres tend to be dark in color, with unusually long claws and fangs. They have a much stronger craving for raw meat and blood than their unaffected siblings, as well as a hypersensitivity to light, sunlight especially. Therefore they prefer staying in the shade and sleeping during the day, while playing and hunting at night. There are two kinds of Vampyres; Those who have learned to control and manage their urges in order to blend in with regular society, taking only what they need and avoiding killing altogether – Like myself and Atraxus – And those whose cravings got the better of them, went feral, and are now considered highly dangerous and to be avoided at all costs. These ‘ferals’ unfortunately make up the majority, which makes life as a Vampyre dangerous as the common dragons do not seem to care to know the difference. |

Vampyres have a natural resistance to disease, this is amplified in those born with the eyes of Plague, making them completely immune to even the most potent of ailments. Vampyrism cannot be transferred through bites, scratches, or consumption of blood. It is purely a mutation and only rarely can it be passed onto offspring. Vampyres born with the eyes of Light have a lessened hypersensitivity to the flight's namesake, however their nightvision's effectiveness is sacrificed as a result. Contrary to popular belief, garlic is not a 'Vampyre repellent.' In fact many Vampyres enjoy the taste and use it regularly in their cooking. Feral Vampyres are dangerous on their own, but much more so when part of a pack. Ferals will attack on sight and are excellent stealth hunters, should you happen to spot one before it attacks do everything in your power to find a light source. That is the only thing that will keep you safe until dawn. |
