For her current position, I drew the strength card, represented by the ox. More than just physical strength, the ox represents mental and spiritual strength as it continues to move along the path despite the burdens it carries. Liatris‘ burden is unique; the power to alter lives and tell of the future is no easy weight to carry, but whether through past difficult experiences, a strong mentor, or an indomitable spirit, she has the strength to keep moving and creating her art, despite the difficult decisions it may force her to make.

For her aspiration, I drew the lovers card, represented by the swan. This card represents a spiritual wholeness; the swan is well aware of its own beauty, but constantly aware of the beauty of the world around it. The beauty of the world around her seems evident to Liatris, who shows this understanding through her art, but still something remains empty. Her work is her passion, but perhaps is cannot be her everything, and she must look up from the wonders she creates to better see the gifts and talents of those around her; she must learn to challenge her self centered nature, as the kindness you give out is the kindness you receive in return.

For action, I drew the hierophant, represented by the polar bear. The polar bear is seen as a keeper of tradition, though it’s home is not as reliable as it once was. The hierophant asks faith, despite instability, in the stories and traditions of the past. It may be time for Liatris, so used to manipulating magic, to let it guide her instead. With the need to keep moving, to always be creating something new, it is difficult to look back, but perhaps the wholeness she aspires to is not in the future, but rather an overlooked piece of the past. On journeys like these, faith in yourself alone is rarely enough, so she must also come to terms with where else her faith truly lies, if anywhere at all.
