Magic is a vast and unknowable thing. When a hatchling spends any amount of time close to Its roots that spread across Sornieth's inner earths, they're bound to bear the brunt of its effects in one way or another. Some dergs are gifted with access to these vast magical banks, bending and shaping what they can to their wills. Others are physically scarred, their bodies too weak to constrain the magic inside the boundaries of their skin. Still others are given powers outside of the ability of manipulation - often unpredictable, powerful, and dangerous, the dergs born with these abilities are wholly dependent on their surroundings for their fates. Are they revered as gods? Abandoned in fear? Exalted to benefit the deity with their gifts?

They didn't know which one was more appropriate for Sherbert when the headaches started.

The pain starts slow and dull, and at the crux of your dawning realization as to what's going on is when it strikes. The brainfreezes that permeate dergs within a claw's length from Sorbert are deeper than the ones that result from too-cold drinks, giving one the impression that their brain is becoming a slushie. As such, few dergs are willing to approach her directly, which is a slightly painful reality for this extreme extrovert. All Sorbet wants is to surround herself with good friends! Luckily, she's found a solution to her dilemma - opening a drinks bar in her den. Offering all manners of beverages, with their strength and legality waning the later into the day it is, Sorbet offers patrons discounts on their purchase in exchange for a good story to fulfill her need for conversation. With a thick bar stand separating her from her patrons, they can drink in peace, and she can have some company.

There's a current deal at the bar that the first derg who can stand next to her for ten minutes gets their drinks free until the next solstice. Nobody has won yet.
