Zorya is a lightning dragon, and she used to be a bogsneak. Science and alchemy are the name of her game, so when ancients started appearing she immediately wondered "Can we scroll for that??" Scrolls in my lore are indeed physical items that are heavily enchanted to carry shape changing magic. They're incredibly difficult to create. She joined the group of dragons that were researching the gaolers, their genetics, and trying to work out the magic to create them. They eventually came out with prototypes not yet fit for use by the general public (the clanbound scrolls), and Zorya took up the challenge of being one of the first test subjects. She considers its success to be her greatest accomplishment.
Their hatchlings are of a nebulous sort of canonicity, completely dependent on what the purchaser does. There's room to write nice lore, dark lore, or ignore it altogether. If you want to reference their lore, the hatchlings might be normal biological offspring, a somewhat questionable cauldron-born experiment, or some combination. If you want to completely disregard the parents' lore, then on my end this means the 'offspring' on the list was just notes for a theoretical experiment that wasn't conducted or a prophetic vision that didn't come true, and on your end they're a normal dragon and you can make up whatever lore for the parents you want.
