______ A stout bodied Coatl of the Molten Scar, this Coatl lives and breathes flames. His feathery body perceptually warm and glowing with flame magic Aegis is a former warrior who retired from a life of wearing armor to forging it. As former part of an adventuring party that journeyed the Ashfall Wastes he found that repairing his groups armor became more enjoyable than fighting for his life in ruins or beastclans camps. On his final quest he found the animated armor that is now his familiar. The ancient set of Guardian half-plate slept on the gravestone of the dragon who wore it until the intrusion awoke it. Aegis managed to calm the angry spirit by tending to its armor plates and, after a clean and a polish, Decim joined Aegis on his quest. With his stores spoils from years of adventure he retired to a comfortable smithy in the Last Retreat where he cares for and crafts his own weapons. Aegis wears his old armor to shield him from the dirt of the embers he handles. Ore is his assistant and brings him freshly smelted metal ingots from Smelter's forge, his tools when he needs them and takes the cooled pieces back up to the shop on the surface. While his assistant is far too useful to dismiss without evidence Aegis is wary of what the Converted want with his work and keeps a close eye on what Ore uses his forge for in his free time. He works to craft the molten metal produced in tandem with Smelter, both creating unique and functional pieces for the Lair.

______ Decim prowls at his side, indistinguishable from an armored guardian in an invisibility cloak except by the incredible age of his armor. It does not eat or sleep but keeps constant guard over Aegis and, by extension, his shop. It rests in front of the anvil, indistinguishable from a pile of finished armor pieces to the untrained eye. Aegis enjoys caring for the ancient plate armor, keeping it slick and shined to a mirror-like gleam. Decim has been known to get 'jealous' of the armor Aegis cleans for sale and will often force its way into Aegis's lap for a polish.
