Biography

Uh-oh, looks like this islandic dancer wandered a little too far from his lair (70920, Isrut), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the urge to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him home instead, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here.

Marathon enjoyed the Shrieking Wilds, until he started sleepwalking and ended up embarrassing himself in front of his host clan. How? Well, he won't talk about it, really. All he knows is now he's out looking for a new place to stay that doesn't have quite so many vines to catch him up.

Wandering into the Wispwillow Grove, Marathon saw the beginnings of a great battle. The Shadow flight was shoring up it's numbers for a war with light. Marathon saw many dragons come and go. Some friends, some hardly strangers, some hardly waddling out of it's nest. Though the deities called for soldiers, Marathon had no interest in fighting for either side, remaining neutral by enjoying his stay with the shadowy clan. With no interest in seeing how the battle would end, Marathon moved on from Wispwillow Grove to calmer places...

He thought he had found a respite from the chaotic battleground, only to be disturbed by the stirrings of newborn coatls. Between the hissing and the biting of his tail, he decided to find somewhere else to call home.

At the Zephyr Cliffs, he met a small clan, and he met a rather grumpy skydancer female named Aurora. For some reason they were attracted to each other, and they raised a nest of three skydancers. After telling the clan about his adventures with sleepwalking and the Shadow flight's war and the newborn coatls, some of their expert hunters trained him so that he would be able to catch food during his journeys and defend himself if need be. Their bard asked if he could add Marathon's misadventures to his collection of stories, so Marathon also became immortalized in song. He left partially because Aurora was acting coldly toward him again and partially because his sleepwalking, without vines to stop him, kept bringing him farther and farther from the clan until one night he forgot entirely where the clan was, trying but failing to find it again. He set off again.

Long after the war ended, Marathon made it to the other faction in the great battle he witness, the realm of Light. He stayed in whamm's Light lair for a while. The dragons seemed to spend most of their time reading and sleeping on the great stones outside. Marathon quickly became adept in the art of 'sunning' himself.

Once Marathon left the sunny reaches of the Lightweaver's lands, he was unprepared for the action that he was engulfed by when he wandered just a little too far into the bamboo forests after a particularly deep sleepwalking session. He was greeted (rudely awakened) by the clan guard, a stout Guardian called Ourania, who took the Skydancer by the scruff of his neck and took him into the floating tower she was protecting.

It was there he met the colourful bunch of dragons that called themselves the Neradas. They had a strong lair hierarchy, and Marathon was soon put to work as a hunter and gatherer, and occasional coliseum fighter. Because of this, Marathon has been able to grow in more ways that one, and is stronger and faster than ever, even finding a temporary familiar along the way. He's not as... enthusiastic about brawling as other clan members are, but appreciates the lengths they're going to nonetheless.

Marathon met a shy little Fae girl who joined the clan shortly after he did. As they were both outsiders, they formed an unlikely little friendship, and Marathon has decided to stay among the bamboo reeds for a little while longer. If not for himself, for the little Fae that clings to his side.

Marathon and Araxie's bashful friendship turned into a bashful love, and eventually they had a small hatchling, who they called Levant. Marathon's heart breaks to leave his new family behind, but he knows he must step forward and leave by his own will before his night wanders tear them apart for good, without a chance to say goodbye. So, with tears in his eyes, Marathon kisses his little Fae family on their brows, and turns a heavy claw to the world beyond the Wind.

Many years had passed, and Marathon could have sworn he blacked out or fell into hibernation for some time. He didn't recall how he had gotten into the rustic inn room he woke up in, but a peek outside the window enlightened him that he was amongst the desert sands of the Shifting Expanse in a wild western town the locals call Sky Sanctum.
