DO NOT DISTURB ME, LITTLE BUGS
I WONT HESITATE TO TERMINATE GLITCHES THAT GET IN MY WAY
I KNOW MY LINEAGE GIVES OTHERS REASON TO DOUBT
BUT REALIZE NOW AS YOU STAND AT MY FEET
I AM NOTHING LIKE THE DEFECT THAT IS MY GRANDFATHER

Notes from Ripley's Logs
I knew the moment I set eyes on this creature that something was different about it. For one, the hatchling was abnormally large for a drone of its breed, more like that of a Ridgeback or Guardian. Secondly, Weaver was taking care of the child herself, the normally cold consciousness taking care of it like it was her own. She spoiled the hatchling as it grew, as if trying to get on it's good side.
I quickly found out why, the drone wasn't just big, there was intelligence in its red eye, a liveliness behind each movement. The drone could think and feel just the same as the consciousness it served. This was what made it so deadly, if Weaver couldn't get it to follow her the drone may have taken over the hive for itself.
Luckily for her the drone easily fell into its role without resistance. It called itself Apex, and seemed to act as some personal guard to the consciousness, a praetorian I've heard them be called. Whenever Weaver left her personal chambers Apex was never far behind. She would send the praetorian to destroy drones, defects or "impure" ones no doubt. Apex was brutal, tearing the drones apart as if it was enjoying the gruesome act. It terrifies me, knowing that this creature took glee in slaughtering even its own kind.
When its not following Weaver like a guard dog Apex prowls through the hive, always watching for weakness. Any slip up is an excuse to be terminated. It does a good job keeping Weaver's Hive "pure" and free of defects. At the very least, I'm glad it spends its time destroying defects of its own kind instead of hunting down dragons.
