And the dark is not soft. The dark does not cradle and conceal you. The dark clings to your skin with sticky, cold fingers and wont let go. There's sand in your eyes and a loud dark hollowing out your chest

And the dark fills your throat like dark water while something dark and looming waits in corners and by foots of beds. The dark sand flows from its eyes and mouth like lies and promises - its limbs unfold unseen along the ceiling

And the dark demands attention. Strain, strain against the endless black to see for there are creatures moving in the black. Dark feathers against your clammy skin, the kiss of black water before it pulls you under

And they are patient. Demanding and divine and fear not your warmth-less flame flickering like frantic heartbeats when dusk begins to fall. The dark has slumbered with unseen claws unsheathed long before you ever feared it. It can wait till your feeble light bulbs crack and fizzle out

And then, it's dark
