╭ There is a lot of misinformation surrounding Daemon, born from fear. A vast majority of Bovidae believes that Daemon is the patron of the goat mimics, horrifying creatures that stalk the mountains and kill innocent travelers by taking the form of Bovidae's beloved goats. The reason for this belief is that Daemon is only seen where goat mimics are found. Some believe he leads the goat mimics, like a Shepard, to their grazing grounds. Others swear he creates them from the stone of the mountains and places them around Bovidae to hurt the citizens of the mountain range. All of this is far from the truth. Daemon protects Bovidae from the goat mimics and actively hunts them. When goat mimics are seen, Daemon is not far behind, picking off the horrifying creatures one by one. In fact, Daemon was once a goat, long before mortals made their home in Bovidae's moving mountains. He was a goat that was killed by the goat mimics, but Daemon had so much love for his mountain home and so much resentment to the goat mimics for their cruel games, he was reborn as a god. Now considered the god of the mountains among other deities, Daemon is the sole protector of Bovidae's mountains and eternal enemy of the horrible goat mimics. Despite the rumors against him, Daemon does not care. He lives among Bovidae in a humanoid form when goat mimic activity is low. He leaves the canyon and hunts goat mimics when he senses they are active, tracking travelers that are marked for murder by the strange shape-shifting creatures. Rarely anyone knows the truth about Daemon. Those that do rarely worship him. He is not seen as a god that one would pray to, even if they believe he is not evil. ╰ |
