This isn't a dragon. At least you're fairly sure it's not. It just bobs along the ceiling of the cave like a forgotten hatchling's toy. It isn't even flapping its wings! It just...floats there. However, no matter which way you move around the cave, it seems like it's facing you, even if you don't see it move. Those glittering eyes seem to track your every movement and you can feel a sense of wrongness eminating from it.
Wait, is it getting closer? You turn to leave the cave, but that thing is now in front of your only exit. You back hurriedly away only to slam into something slimy behind you. Quickly turning around, you see that that thing is now behind you. "But that's impossible!", you cry out loud as you look at the cave entrance and see that the creature is still there.
Wait. Is it getting darker? You look at the fire which is indeed going out, bathing the cave in ever growing darkness. You back against the wall, mantling in fear as whispers fill the air. Half heard words fill your head, promising life, death, hope, despair, insanity. It's time to leave. Now.
You turn toward your only chance at safety and breathe a sigh of relief. The creature is no longer blocking the way out! That relief is short lived when you realize it's because the creature is now just two feet away from you, its mouth curled into a horrible smile. No one even hears your scream.
When your clan leader enters the cave next, all he finds is a cheerily crackling fire. Your disappearance will be talked about for months, until eventually you're but a vauge memory to your friends. After a few more months you're not even that.
