Killdeer was named after her favorite bird and is beloved by the rest of the mage school. As a hatchling, her father would bring her to his classes so he could take care of her while working. He expected the other mages to be annoyed by her, but instead, they were charmed. Aside from Starlight, all of the mages spoiled Killdeer. Because she was surrounded by magic, she learned magic quickly. She's learning healing spells.

Killdeer and her uncle, Azoth, are two peas in a pod. They're always working together on projects. However, when she is not practicing her spells or working with projects, she's usually visiting her sweetheart, a parda-herding imperial in the plateau below.

Killdeer does not have a permanent familiar. She often takes care of birds because she likes them so much.
