A hunter that has strayed from his pack, a patriarch with boundless love, a merciless and fanatical zealot beholden to the whims of the Shadowbinder; Ophrenos is many things and the line between fact and hearsay can blur even at the best of times. Who can say if he's been witnessed stalking important members of other flights? There's surely no correlation between disappearing dragons from the Sunbeam Ruins, and the many golden-eyed members of the Aphotic Clan. And though he is most assuredly dangerous, the title "Brood Gorger" could not possibly be anything more than a myth, could it?

'Could you imagine? The gall of these thick heads, to suggest I not value the new life of any flight. Pfeh, when you half-witted children push an egg from your nest at the slightest hint of infirmity, know that I will be there.'

Were one to ask of Ophrenos' hoard, they'd most likely earn a scoff for an answer. "Little," says he "is of such importance as the blood of our own." Where most mirrors sojourn in their packs to hunt prey, he instead takes to the lands of Sornieth to gather those eggs lost or discarded. For them, he finds a home, be it in the nests of native clans or within his own hodge-podge brood. Boundless is his love of hatchlings, with whom he shares his secrets and favorite tricks.

Perhaps it is the very fact that he evokes the image of conflict with scarred hide and armored form that he softens his voice and his nature for those whom he raises. Perhaps it is in defiance of the ever-so-typical bloodthirst synonymous with his kind. Or perhaps simply, he loves being a dad. Make no mistake, however; he spares none who threaten his children.
