Unlike other dragons who were strengthened by the elemental boon that Sornieth was blessed with, Gelineau was not so lucky. Magic saps her body and life force much like an autoimmune disease, resulting in stunted growth and weakened features. Primarily, her eyes--within a few years of life, her eyesight had diminished to nonexistent. She is even more of a runt than she naturally would have been without these problems, and as a result is easily intimidated by almost anything or anyone she comes across.

She is perhaps the most unique hatchling brought back to the clan by Opus; he himself admitted she has no value or potential investment value. Instead, he brought her directly to Natius, proclaiming the young Spiral was a gift. The Skydancer's eyes were alight with curiosity and inspiration, but Gelineau expressed only anxiety and fear of being in a new place.

With the gift she had been given, Natius began to wonder if Opus was beginning to go soft.

During her first few weeks with the clan, Gelineau spent much of her time with a fellow Spiral named Rigby. Often times he would be quite busy keeping the treasury and other records in order, and she would lay about in the plants that grew near his chosen workplace. He seemed to have endless patience, often stopping to ensure she caught up with him before continuing to move, and he answered her questions with ease. Much of their time was spent in comfortable silence, however, and neither seemed to really object to it.

After some time, Natius came back to retrieve her, claiming she had a potential solution to her problems. It sounded too good to be true, and Gelineau had mixed feelings about it, but did she really have a choice? With the help of Xxaven, the clan healer, she was put under and Natius began her experimental operation.

When she awoke again, she experienced near-violent sensory overload. She could see once again, it was true, and there was much less pain in her body, but it was not the way she was used to seeing. In fact, she could see perhaps too much, too well. It was overwhelming, and it took many weeks of adjustment for her to relax. Her vision had been greatly enhanced; her field of vision had been enlarged, and she could see with better definition as well as for a further distance. Black markings adorned her body now, more defined than they previously were. Natius explained that she had placed implants just beneath the surface of her scales that boosted her natural systems, largely reversing the effect magic had on her body.

With the ability to see again, Gelineau's social anxiety was slightly decreased. She was introduced to Natius' other 'projects'; Enoch appeared to be a hatchling like herself, and acted as a mobile database for anything the clan may need to know, as well as storing outside information. He claimed he was not a full robot despite his appearance; he was "born an organic creature like many others, but was too sickly to inhabit his natural body indefinitely, and was gifted with a new resilient body by Maker-Natius," as he said. However, he informed Gelineau that the only part of his body that retained its organic nature was his brain and nervous system. He was enjoyable company; the faint humming and ticking his body produced as he went about his daily routine were soothing in a sense, and he never seemed to complain when she became tired and he would allow her to rest on his back regardless of what he was doing.

Another of her creations, AILO, made Gelineau nervous. Though she appeared to be a normal dragon, she was entirely inorganic. Natius described her as an artificial intelligence, technology more advanced than anything she had encountered yet. AILO was a multi-functional system of her own and was capable of helping out with tasks around the clan as well, and though she did not speak much, she seemed to mean well. Still, Gelineau could not make herself feel comfortable around the Pearlcatcher-looking creation, and she actively avoids her.

Despite being fixed in a sense, she has yet to find a true purpose in life. She helps out around the clan where she can, and tries her best to help Rigby keep things in order, too. Mostly, however, she spends her time trying to stay out of the way, unsure of who she really is and what she is meant to do.
