Desperate to prove herself despite having nothing to prove, Tecla found herself contaminated with Shadetouch following a disastrous battle within the coliseum. Fearing that she could put her fathers in danger once the symptoms began to appear, she fled and pretended she'd simply been struck with a particularly aggressive wanderlust in the note she left behind.

After hearing a rumour about a tundra who studied the Shade, she made her way south to Clan Dragonblight territory, and was promptly given Shriek's particular brand of hospitality. Her condition was so poor on arrival that Shriek even considered putting her out of her misery. However, Tecla eventually managed to pull through, with the effects of the Shade successfully purged from her mind and magic. Her body still bears the marks, and may do so for a long time to come, but that's a small price to pay.

Once her strength returned the determined little fae soon managed to impress Sasha with her swordplay skills, and is even one of the few non-Ice dragons to ever complete a season with the Frostguard. She misses her fathers greatly, but she also owes a life-debt to this clan, and she will repay them one day no matter what.
