____In the dawn of the ages, Lightweaver crafted her firstborn from her own essence - naming them Imperials, for they were built superior to all dragonkind. However, in her hubris, Lightweaver overlooked a minor but fatal flaw in her children. In using her shed essence, she made them unstable. Worse, this instability followed them in death, for if three or more Imperials were to be left to decompose in too close of proximity, their bodies would congeal into one, and come back to a cursed existence - on the cusp of life and death, multiple minds vying for dominance and blind to their own destructive natures.

Shamed, Lightweaver abandoned her firstborn to focus on other projects. From them, came her acolytes. A number of them vowed to put an end to the dishonor of the Emperors - as they came to be named, a cruel jest on the name of Imperials. They sought to mimic the creation of their forebears, building draconic homunculi, built with the express purpose of hunting down and destroying these undead monsters.

As Lightweaver's children were believed too gentle and refined for such a task, the acolytes sought inspiration from the children of the other gods. The dragons in question needed to be fierce, proven warriors. Mirrors were disdained for Plaguebringer's association with disease and decay, for all that the Foul One loathed the undead. Instead, her sister's children, Wildclaws, were chosen. Fierce warriors they were, and born of Gladekeeper's renewal of life born from the ashes of death. It was thought then that Wildclaws were the only logical choice to not only destroy the Emperors, but to heal what damage they had wreaked.

____The acolytes gathered a number of Wildclaws - some willing, some not - to study their physiology that they may replicate it. While they did, they also worked to collect Light magic from their home region, that would give their homunculi life and power. It was decided that there should be twelve in total - to better represent not only Light, but the course time. It took the bulk of a year, but eventually the first of the Emperor Hunters were given shape.

As life breathed into them, the acolytes separated them from all other dragons, that their early education might not be interrupted. Those Wildclaws that volunteered - all of whom had been born in Lightweaver's grace - taught the Hunters all they knew of fighting and hunting. When they had learned all they could, they were released into Sornieth to put an end to the Emperor's destruction and dishonor.

Some centuries ago, the Hunters laid to rest the last Emperor. Finally, their divine purpose was fulfilled. The acolytes who breathed life into them were long dead, however, as were any who had been their for their earliest days. With no other purpose left to them, they resumed their hunt. For what else was left to them, but to forever track their now-extinct prey?

Today, only two are known to exist. They serve the Bound King - a Tundra Sage, with an interest in collecting ancient homunculi. While knowledge that an Emperor once more walks among the world torments them, they are unable to leave the Court of the Bound King.
