Kyrie

Heart pounding, she ran across the broken building, as it crumbled underneath her.

'Crrrasssh'.

Lightning flashed in the skies above as she half ran, half flew, her claws hit the stone so fast that it was a trouble to keep track of what was going on. Crashing, tumbling, debris falling all around her, Ky turned left, then right, looking for a way out. Another stone tumbled loose behind her. She looked for a way out but there wasn't one, and time was running out.

'Quickly... quickly now. Think...'

Crash, boom, bang.

Faster and faster they fell, until there was nowhere to turn.

And then, there... a small space to squeeze herself through.

One limb before the other, she slipped her lithe body past the gap until Kyrie had made it to the other side. And then the last of her tail was through, and she had made it.

'Phew...'.

There was a sharp intake of breathe. She hadn't realised she hadn't been so of out of breath until now. Slowly, her breathing slowed to a calm pace, and she was silently thanking the deity's blessings when she looked up, and took in the sight before her.

It was incredible, jaw-dropping even.

Whereas she had been before, she was now tensed up, on edge, every fibre of her body screaming. She had gotten away, hadn't she? She had made it... right? Her had body stopped moving out of it's own accord, out of instinct, just taking in the sheer magnitude of the thing before her.

It was a monster.

'What is that thing? Why is it after me? ...What does it want?'. So many jumbled thoughts ran around her head, and yet the Nocturne still couldn't move.

Black as night, it's giant coils spread across the sky, seemingly slowly at first, gaining speed as it seemed to grow until it covered the sky all around her.

Lightning and thunder crashed overhead once more, and the monster, opened it's mouth and consumed her.

Then everything went white.

Epilogue:

Body twisting, arms waving in the air, Ky felt herself falling.

THUMP.

'Ouch...'

Rubbing her paws on her face, she blinked her eyes, once then twice, then two more times for good measure. She felt them adjust to her surroundings.

'Where am i?'

Shaking her head from side to side, it all slowly came back to Kyrie.

She was awake, and it had only just been a dream.
