The day is full of miraculous things, but the night is full of splendour.

The most mysterious and beautiful dragons only come out at night in the Southern Icefields. The sunlight hitting off the snow is known to cause snowblindness in the best of weather, and terrible muddy mires in the worst. So any sensible social dragon must come out at night. It is here among the most beautiful and gracious of dragons that you will find DarkStar.

A dragon of both beauty and mystery, DarkStar would be a serious catch for any dragon if they could only nail him down. He says little, keeps his movements graceful but ambiguous, and never gives himself away on any matter of opinion. He enjoys the mystique of it, of keeping the others guessing at his motives. He truly enjoys watching the more wilful dragons tying themselves in knots when they attempt to manipulate him. Especially the ones that aren’t even Spiral Dragons. Truly, DarkStar has yet to meet his match, but he dreams of a dragon who could keep his attention with a proper battle of wills- perhaps a dark lady with bright laughing eyes…

As beautiful dragons flit between crystalline towers of ice, the bright starlight filters through to catch the careful movement of one particular dragon. His hide is covered in the patterns of the stars above, their twinkling the only indication of his dark form moving. As DarkStar moves further into the shadows of the tall ice spires his goal comes into sight: a magnificent gaping fissure in the glacier face, its entrance of broken ice catching the light of a thousand tiny stars and reflecting them back from the darkness of the lurking cave. DarkStar approaches the darkened passage with care- no other dragon must see him here. This fissure opens under the Fortress of Ends and any dragon who trespasses here risks not only the ire of the Icewarden and his acolytes, but the dangers of what the Icewarden has locked away.

No light reaches past the entrance and it feels as if the stars on DarkStar’s own hide are winking out one-by-one with each step he takes. Yet it doesn’t matter, he must continue or all his efforts will be for nothing. Time seems to slip away as he quietly continues through the darkness. No sound reaches him but his own breathing, no light enters the passage. So he is startled when he notices two glowing eyes watching him from the darkness. He cannot see who is attached to them, nor did he hear them approach. He quickens his pace, trying to reach this entity but it simply moves away. These bright eyes continue to watch, their owner making no sound and DarkStar fears to break the silence- but he could swear those eyes are laughing at him all the same.
