LORE/BIO HISTORY
Previously named Esperanza
Worried whispers were her first introduction to the world.
“A plagueling?!? In our grotto!?!”
“What went wrong?”
“Why are her eyes red?”
“We can’t have a child like this here! The Gladekeeper will be furious!”
The whispering crowd parted as a Skydancer priestess cloaked in soft white linens, stepped through. She was lifted into her arms and taken away. The priestess broke into a sprint the second she was out of sight.
A pristine white hallway, the soft sunlight and cool breeze was disrupted by the sprinting dragon. Just as the priestess turned a corner with the child, a deep rumble was felt through the temple.
“Bring... The... Plagued... Child...”
At that command the Skydancer shuttered. The stone on her forehead began to glow green. She robotically turned and jumped out of the window, her wings catching them immediately.
In the air, the young hatchling finally spoke, “Where are we going?”
“...glade...keeper......”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The priestess landed at the base of a tree. The tree was enormous and looming. A circle of marble bricks was well worn into the ground where the landed. The Skydancer set the child on the marble circle.
The tree rumbled and shuttered as a horizontal split appeared right in front of her. A great green eye stretched open in the bark. The pupil dilated and focused on the hatchling.
“You... are......... Plagued...”
“But... you... deserve...... a chance...”
The hatchling has not noticed that tendrils of vines had circled around the marble. At the Gladekeeper’s last word, the tendrils grabbed ahold of her legs. A burning energy washed up through the child’s body. She let out a scream as the power reached her head. She felt drained as small flowers and vines sprouted around her eyes.
The vines released her and she collapsed. Her once red eyes had become green and blossoming. She was tired and panting, she had just been born earlier in the day after all. Yet, there was a certain clarity to her mind. As if she were complete.
“You... are... hope...... Esperanza....”
Esperanza sat up. The name felt right too.
“T-thank you!” She chirped.
The priestess spoke up, her stone no longer glowing, “You must go now. He wants you to grow our garden. Spread to the plagued lands. We will equip you for your journey.”
