Biography
Very few Spawn females are born, but those that are have sapped the magic from their brothers in nest, proving themselves to be powerful and magically blessed by Arenji. Most of them have proven themselves to be adept at necromancy, as their mother was when she resurrected their father. All Spawn have been touched by death and females can bring down curses and evil upon those that have wronged them. Many females also have difficulty getting in touch with their own emotions, despite retaining the skydancer ability to sense the emotions of others, leading them to be able to fake emotion with ease while secretly plotting the demise. They are a species you want to fight on your side, for woe to you if you are their enemy...
Boys, on the other hand, have lost their magical abilities. They are driven by the will of Arenji or lost to wander until found. Many have very short life spans, but find themselves drawn to those who are able to grant the touch of life when close to their deaths. They call these beings life-givers no matter their element or style and will connect to one and stay with them for the rest of their existence - possibly eternally - much like how a Guardian finds their charge. Many without a life-giver will seem lost or wandering, aimless, but feel a pull when their life is near end out of fear of going to the gods and into eternal servitude. Once they have found their life-giver, however, they will protect them at any cost and could put an angry imperial to shame in their sheer physical power.
Why he's following Thornbane (W.I.P.):
He could feel it...his death was drawing near....There'd been a shadow always lurking at the edge of his vision for weeks now...
He had been visiting as many clans as he could, hoping to find a life-giver before his time was up, but...he had failed...those he had managed to find already had a Spawn...he couldn't impose on them to take another in; his brothers wouldn't take kindly to that.
Out of desperation, he had sought out the Wind clans where travelers and information are wont to gather. But he had found nothing...if anyone knew of a life-granter, his words weren't convincing them to share.
He flopped down on a grassy hill, exhausted. He didn't have enough time remaining to search further territories...If the swarming shadows at the edge of his sight were anything to go by, he likely only had this single day left...

"...Hello? Are you dead...?"
Elegant 's eyes flashed open; he didn't realize he'd drifted off. Coiled in front of him was a small, obsidian Spiral, a skull concealing their face. A Greybeak Reaper regarded him with an odd expression from it's perch on the skull. He tried to raise his head, but didn't have the strength.
"Oh, so you're not dead! If you're sick, I can fetch our healer... but," the Spiral paused, "something tells me that Quelo can't help you..."
Elegant stopped listening to the Spiral. He watched the stranger's brown fireflies dance around them, seeming to blink in and out of existence. Was this truly where he would meet his end? Would he end up in servitude to the Windsinger if it happened here? The Corven on the Spiral's head swatted idly at the fireflies. At least his final moments wouldn't be alone, but....Elegant felt like he had so much left to do...why had Arenji made he and his brothers like this? For what-
Something small hit him in the face, right between the eyes. The second he tried to look at it, white pain exploded behind his eyes and blew all thought away.

"....lo?..."
"...ello?..."
"...Hello?! You're not actually dying, are you!? Please don't be dead!"
Elegant opened his eyes again, and again the Spiral was in front of him. Light green eyes peered down at him with concern as they lifted the skull mask from their face.
Elegant sat up, feeling his strength returning to him like it had never left...could it be?

He stared, dumbfounded, at this unknowing life-giver....
