Galina
In the Windswept Plateau a pure, wind-born Imperial, struggles to fly. Her wings, once strong enough to rival Windsinger's champions, now hang limply on the rocks and grass around her. She should've seen it coming, or at least felt it. The winds had changed, enough to twist Sornieth's permanent vortex the opposite direction. The Plateau's air currents were so inviting that day though, so how could Galina resist?
...She can still feel her wings contorting and snapping; an agony no dragon, let alone one of the wind, should ever experience. Her parent's, of course, blamed her. They called her foolish for flying at that time, as if that freak unnatural occurrence could've been predicted or avoided.
'At least', the Imperial thought bitterly, 'they aren't breathing down my neck anymore'.
She looked north towards the Wastes, an opportunity twinging in the back of her mind.
'Do you still favour me Wind, despite my grounding disability?' There was only one way to find out.
Galina jumped.
Galina flew.
