Llyr is never found during midday or even dawn, his waking hours are that of dusk and night. He's a master at seeing and speaking with beings that rarely walk in the physical realm and worries some of the villagers just a bit with his exploration of the eldritch places. He's come out just fine though, leaving others to wonder how. Some think he might not be fully dragon, but when asked, he says he doesn't know either. If ones was to ask the village mystic, they would find that Llyr might be hosting another being within his body. One of neutral alignment. Thus the near invisible mist that seems to cling around his legs and body at some points. |

Night had fallen. He could hear the soft breathing of his mother and father, who, not that long ago, had nuzzled him lovingly as they said goodnight. He felt a pang of guilt as he slipped out into the chilly night air, murmuring a promise that he'd return soon to ease his mind.
Tonight the moon was only a crescent in the sky! He'd heard that mysterious shadows danced within the forests on nights like this, and eyes peered out from the darkness. He was going to explore, he couldn't wait any longer.
He was glad that his parents lived on the outskirts of the village, it made it far easier to slip into the forest without being caught. Lantern light illuminated his back as he vanished into the darkness, away from the eyes of the village.
Llyr knew his way around the forest. He was certain he did. All those days his parents had let him explore hadn't gone to waste. But the forest was different at night. He was left in awe of the way things seemed to have shifted. The way the trails had changed and twisted.
The trees creaked and leaves rustled mysteriously the farther in he went. Still, he'd seen no eyes peering out at him, no shadows following him as he walked. Other than his own, of course, whenever the weak moonlight filtered through the branches.
A cool mist began to wrap around his legs, shimmering in the moonlight. He caught sight of his shadow. It was looking elsewhere.
He stumbled back, falling onto his rump. It began moving forward, he was quick to follow.
The horror and shock wore off far quicker than it should've replaced by total fascination as he watched and followed what should have been following him. The mist had grown and thickened. He was breathing it in now, it was over his head, the visibility was fading. Yet, he could still see his shadow moving onward.
Eventually, there was nothing else to see. The world faded.
A scouting party found him a weeks later, passed out somewhere within the forest. His parents scolded him, crushing him in their embrace.
However, the experience he'd gone through only seemed to fuel his fascination for the eldritch and mysterious. His parents reluctantly let him continue his exploration as long as he studied magic to keep him safe, and eventually he became rather adept at communing with spirits, ghosts and demons. He's careful though, especially with the demons.
His parents are proud, but still anxious and he make's sure to visit them at least once every three weeks if not more.
Besides that, he takes up jobs for anyone who believes they're being haunted or of his own accord. If there's a haunted house, forest, item or anything, he's most certainly going to be checking it out.
Otherwise, he spends his free time exploring at night and dusk. Some think he's at least half nocturnal and they're right.
It's 495 words, on what I wrote it with. I hope it's okay!
