Ewen widened his eyes in fear, pulling his head between his shoulders while staring up at the guard that watched him with suspicion. There was no stage, no audience aside from the dragon in front of him, still Ewen put all of his efforts into the role he was playing. As he spoke he made his voice shake. It was the voice of a child, not that of an adult: "I-I am sorry, Sir, I got here by accident, I didn't know that…" The other's gaze softened and they shook their heard, waving at Ewen to sign him to leave. And that he did, the valuable goods safely stowed in his backpack.

Personality

Ewen is no easy dragon to be around. He is a choleric, bursting out in anger and rage about things that most other dragons would simply brush off. However, one should not take his anger as a sign of dislike or even hatred. Ewen simply likes to vent, screaming his annoyance into the world. Those that can ignore his tantrums usually get along well with him.

When Ewen is not ranting, he still is no calm dragon. He likes to talk, joke, laugh loudly, and even sing no matter how bad it sounds. He is a very talented actor and can get into almost any role instantly. While acting, Ewen swallows all his anger that he'd usually unleash, and most often even forgets he was angry when he drops the role.

Even though he doesn't look like it, Ewen is a capable fighter. He is not very well versed with weapons, but one should stay clear of his teeth and claws. What he is missing in size and strength, he makes up with his agility and technique.

But even Ewen has a calm side. He loves books and can lose himself in one for hours. During that time, it is hard to talk to him at all should one want more of an answer than just an absent nod. He is supportive and caring to those he holds dear, and gets angry in the stead of those that don't. He will protect his friends no matter what, with his health being only a small sacrifice.

Background

Ewen grew up in a group of travelling actors. He was told that they had found him somewhere along the way, a tiny hatchling someone had left by the road. Ewen never cared for where he came from. The actors were his family, his clan. He needed no one else.

Even before Ewen could walk, he was included into their plays. He was raised with acting as part of his everyday life and he loved it. Getting into a role became part of him and without a role to study and play, Ewen quickly felt unchallenged and bored.

When the group realized Ewen didn't grow as fast as normal children did, they were concerned. They scratched together what money they had to consult a healer. When they found out that Ewen was healthy aside from his dwarf-like statue, they were so relieved that they celebrated until late into the night. Ewen continued playing children in their plays, a perfect fit for his size… even though he had to learn how to adjust his voice. It was a happy and peaceful life, filled with amazing places and applause.

But the peace shouldn't last forever. It was ended abruptly by ruthless bandits that attacked the group during their travels. Seeking for gold and treasure, they killed the actors mercilessly as they tried to defend the little they had. Ewen was hit unconscious and barely survived his wounds. When he came to his senses, his home was destroyed and his family dead.

Injured and lost he wandered around, driven half by anger, half by despair. He caught Nemoni's attention, who was busy in the area. She noticed he was injured and brought him to the Obsidian Cove, but not without him struggling against her. There he stayed and soon found a new home, while his old one still accompanies him wherever he goes.
