Cypress was born to explore the world underground. His family often burrowed to make homes when they traveled, so digging around in the dirt was nothing new to him. He especially didn't mind it when they would visit places rich in crystals and ore, filling many chests with the new treasures he could find.

As he got older, Cypress knew he wanted to become a miner. There was almost nothing that made him happier than finding a chunk of gold ore and he liked the thrill of being under ground where no one else could find him. He soon joined a company in the Wind flight that would trade him treasure and gems for the items he collected down below.

On a new assignment, the company required him to go with a few partners to Dragonhome to explore Cairnstone Rest to see if there were any valuable gems they could find without disturbing the burial sites there.

Cypress only ever dreamed of going to Cairnstone Rest! When he and his partners finally reached the gem-rich land, he really thought it was a dream. Rocks and crystals sparkled all around, and one of the crevices, a pile of beautiful seafoam colored gems caught his eye.

He flew down to collect the gems, and as he reached down to pick it up, the pile unraveled into a shimmering Spiral dragon decorated with gembond.

"Sorry about that!" Cypress apologized, embarrassed by his mistake. "I-I thought you were a pile of jade or something, but... looks like I still found a gem."

The fellow Spiral dragon giggled at his mistake, and found herself smiling at his sweet comment. "My name's Terra," she introduced, "and I'm looking for some artifacts here. If you head east, I know there's lots of gems to be found there. But be careful over there -- the Earth Sprites aren't too fond of people who take too many of their gems!"
