There are only a small handful of dragons that can boast successfully sneaking past Ria's watchful eye, her surveillance on the clan's outer territories considered near impenetrable by those relying on her for the clan's protection. And much of that success she owes to the loyal companion that has aided her since she first stumbled upon Sorien's fold, a quiet Fae named Weevil. He diligently serves as her second pair of eyes, his own richly green wings and small size offering themselves well to her hidden surveillance, as he scouts the treetops while the Snapper patrols the forest floor. And perhaps most valuable of all is his special knowledge on how to cast sending spells, an incredible boon of communication to the two sentries patrolling far from the clan's main grounds, as he's able to instantly call back to Sorien's Court whenever they come across something of interest on their patrols. He tirelessly gives his all to Ria's work, willingly fulfilling anything the Snapper asks of him with the utmost devotion... all out of gratitude for the life debt he owes her. His memories of that day are understandably blurred. He recalls the smell of marshland, his fatal error as a clump of strange reeds had suddenly burst into the snapping maws of hungry toridae. And as he had struggled in their jaws, slowly succumbing to their deadly venom, the blur of a richly green figure had suddenly leapt from the foliage, sending the toridae into disarray with bursts of vines and elemental energy. He'd awoken days later among a troupe of Snappers, carrying him with them on their journey through the Shrieking Wilds, and when he asked who it was that had rescued him, coming face to face with Ria's near motherly gaze, a sworn life debt to the Snapper had become instantly sealed. There's been a contentedness to the Fae ever since, an inner peace that's hard to come by. Having that one day in the marshes nearly become his last, he's come to view every single one that has followed an invaluable gift, filled with so many little joys that he never wants to take for granted again. From the soft wind rustling the leaves, to finding the gentle fluttering wings of moths hiding in the branches as he stands watch, every little moment now seems to be incredibly special to him. A life now indebted to Ria, he wishes to live it to its very fullest. |

Weevil finds serving Ria a thoroughly honorable position, feeling incredible contentment that the one that rescued him would also come to be a most pleasant companion. They were both rather quiet and introverted, making their time spent roving among the trees away from the clan's main grounds a comfortable life to live. He appreciates their long talks and her many stories that will fill their endless patrols, admiring her wisdom and her loyalty to her clan that he wishes to cultivate in his own character. Even if he were to ever repay the life debt he owes Ria in full, he feels he'd still continue to travel alongside her as he always has, just out of how much he enjoys her company. |
