Rastus is often referred to as the clan's mind, like a steel trap, eidetic memory saving snapshots of important history for safekeeping until he can return to his scroll and quill. He maintains the library for Clan Diomede, ensuring that the brittle parchments and fading inks suffer as little as possible from the passage of time, and inscribes copies for those about to be lost to dust.

Some are surprised to find the library, and his own study, to be clean and organized spaces, but Rastus will point out that it's best to take great care when there's likely to be scrolls, ink bottles, and shuffling dragons with twitchy wings about. Those who failed to take caution know him best for a smart tailstrike when they reached recklessly for a scroll, and the candlemark spent after listening to his lecture on respecting these materials. Those foolish enough to make the mistake a second time are impressed into service as his assistants for a halfmoon, in order to learn the work that goes into maintaining records as well as he does.
