Madock

Madock is a traveler and an adventurer. He belongs to this clan in the sense that it's kind of his base of operations : he comes here when he is not travelling, and he has many friends there. He's also dating Chi, and is fascinated (and somewhat amused) by his husband's willingness to learn the Coatl's native language. When Chi isn't trying to imitate the natural Coatl sounds, they tend to communicate by signs, as the Fae's monotone voice is incomprehensible to Madock.

Random facts about Madock :

- carries his ember mouse everywhere with him, sometimes on his head, sometimes in a pocket
- enjoys tasting new foods from the places he visits
- has forgotten who was supposed to be the leader of the clan, and at this point is too afraid to ask (it's probably one of the founders, right ? wait, who are the founders again? oh no.)
- can be forgetful of names if he doesn't interact with others too often, and has a bad memory of who does what (hence his confusion about who's the leader here)
- knows how to calm down Chi when he panics

« I was an adventurer once, and then, I took an arrow to the… no, just kidding, even if I love my friends and Chi, I won’t stop traveling and discovering stuff. I can’t actually stay in one place for very long, and I was surprised how easy it was to stay here in the clan. I had a very warm welcome from Denyze and Choas, and slowly learned to know every other dragon of the clan. Chi is my closest friend here : even if I can’t understand what he says most of the time, we found out it’s easier to communicate by signing. Lately, he’s been reproducing the sounds I make while signing (I tend to whisper what I sign), and he’s getting better and better at reproducing my voice. Sometimes I just take him with me to some quiet place and teach him the names of the plants… when we find plants. The Wandering Contagion is not the most luxuriant places in Sornieth. Most of the time we find some cool rocks, and Chi keeps them – I think he has a whole collection.

Whenever I travel, I keep a travelling journal where I can write and draw about the dragons I encounter in all the different places I visit. There are many drawings of the places I liked, and of the dragons I’ve met. It’s easier for me to remind myself of who they are this way, as I write down the names under the portraits. And a thing I forgot to do when I arrived here in this clan was to write down the specific job everyone had here… now I’m not sure it would be polite to ask again. Surely, the leader is either Denyze or Healer, I think. Choas can’t be the leader, he’s too busy training yound hatchlings and teaching them to fight – and too busy drawing, too. I like him, he’s one of the dragons who understands how hard art can be sometimes. He’s better at claws than I am and gave me a few tips and tricks. Claws are hard.

Chi and I are dating. It came kind of as a surprise – as I usually can’t understand what Faes say, I would have never imagined dating one. But I'm certain meeting him was some kind of feat of fate, and it's the luckiest fate I could ever have had. He is truly amazing, even if he may not always see himself as such. As we got to know each other, and after we started dating, we both mentioned how much we would enjoy being able to take care of our own hatchlings together. We were considering asking Denyze if there was a way her science could help us... but in the middle of the night, Chi woke me up screaming about a lost baby. We set off to find it and, well, Azuleus entered our family ! »

He’s a traveler, and he’s not always in the clan technically - he wanders around a lot, takes notes and draws in a sketchbook, and when he comes back he has amazing stories to tell his husband, his son, and the rest of the Clan. With the clan’s radio, he’s probably one of the most reliable news source around. Almost anything weird could happen and he wouldn’t be surprised by it at this point - I mean, he’s married to a Fae that speaks Coatl AND has visions of possible futures, they’ve found and adopted their son because of said visions, and a lot of wacky things happen in the clan. Like gods descending from the sky, or weirdoes who have a child who pretends to have been literally pulled out of the Wyrmwound. And with how much he travels, he’s probably seen weirder...

He’s a really cool dragon to be around, because he always has some sort of story to tell, but he’s also very good at listening when needed. He knows how to calm others down, which comes in handy all the time.

The clan leader sometimes asks him to become some kind of official diplomat of the clan, but he’d rather stay an unofficial mascot.

He might hand you out flyers detailing what to visit at the Denyzia clan though. No one really knows where he gets them from, but... he has them. Oddly enough, there’s about two other dragons with these at all times on them : the clan leader Denyze, and the main radio host Amethyst. Maybe they just like having tourists around.
