“Day 10: Job from some old guy outside of the Monestary. Seems something’s been scaring the pilgrims and nobody’s been wanting to take a crack out of it. I come ‘highly recommended,’ which translates out to, ‘I’m tired of getting my money’s worth by hiring cheap, untrained hunters.’

Day 14: Tracked to Ghostlight Ruins. Camped near what seems like an old temple. South wall flimsy but location more secure. North is completely open and I don’t want to be ambushed. Again.

Day 17: Three days, no sign of quarry. I’m either getting rusty or something’s wrong.

Day 22: Nearly a month and I’ve only been seeing glimpses of this thing. It seems stupid to be hired to hunt down an infestation hound like this, but the Shizai Monestary seems pretty convinced it’s special somehow. I don’t know how because the only difference I see between it and literally every other hound is that it’s mane is… brighter, I guess? Bigger and brighter, which just means it’s older.

Day 23: I feel robbed. This isn’t even a supernatural hunt. I’m just chasing an old dog around a haunted ruin.

Day 30: So. My arm is broken and I found out that malevolent spirits can actually control infestation hounds. I always figured those hellspawn were more horse folks than dog folks, but live and learn. I’m going home.”

”Yeah, I don’t know. From the way to describe it, I can’t tell if you’re having a problem with an actual spirit or if it’s just one of the mages mucking around. All my scrying is coming up bunk, so I can’t really do more for you. I just know the last time this happened, it was less ‘demonic possession’ and more ‘Krosis was being petty.’

“Tell you what, though. If you’re really that worried, I’ll put in a word with Wolfsbane and you can talk to her about it. Like, yeah, I know they always tell you to come to the Coalition if you have a problem but, in this case, she’d probably know more than me. Hunting and exorcising ghouls is her game more than it is ours, so it definitely wouldn’t hurt to get her expert opinion. Because I’m useless right now, and she’s better at this than I am.”
