A pair of pink eyes glitter at you from the shadows of the cage. “Hullo.” he greets you quietly, his eyes scanning you. “There’ve been rumours of a dragon wandering our kingdom...I assume that’s you?” he asks, drawing his wings close to his body. You nod. “Interesting.” he muses. “Well, my name is Anomaly number eighty six, but you can call me Chameleon. Or, Cham for short.” he says, though he keeps his talons to himself. “Interesting to meet you.”

Early Life

Chameleon was hatched by accident, in the lair of a scientist named Gamma. Gamma was just trying to do an experiment with nuclear alchemy, but had found an arcane egg on her way to her lab that day. She'd decided to bring it with her, leaving it in the back corner of her lab while she worked. Little did she know, the energy her experiment gave off was affecting the egg she'd brought in, turning the skin of the little mirror inside a radioactive green. The egg hatched weeks later, and Gamma named it Anomaly #86, or Chameleon, once she discovered his abilities. She quickly sold the dragonet for treasure, needing the money to continue her experiment and anxious for him to hurt her. She gave him a little birdskull necklace and sent him on his way.

Living In Crystalrune

When he arrived in his new kingdom, he met a small green nocturne named Vega, with starry purple wings and a bright smile. She was closer to his age than the other dragons around and was very friendly to him. The two became best friends and spent every day together. Cham didn't understand why this beautiful green nocturne was being so nice to him, but he knew he couldn't lose her now. She was one of the only dragons who really showed affection towards him besides his mentor, Arizona and a shy, sparkly imperial named Ella, who happened to be Vega's best friend as well. The three, now calling themselves the Three Musketeers share a den, always go flying together, and watch each others' backs as if they were hatched together.

Anomaly 86 banged his head against the wall. Once. Twice. Three times. His skull rung like a bell
in a clock tower each time it struck the cement, making nerves sing with pain. He smiled. As he lifted his head he scanned the room outside his enclosure for any other living thing, and saw another little creature sitting on a bed in a cage across the lab from him.

"Psst!" 86 hissed, trying to get the attention of the other creature. "Over here!" he hissed again. The smaller creature looked up and his hollow yellow eyes widened a little at the sight of him. "Hey! Don't be scared!" he said gently as the little alien backed up against the wall of his enclosure. "My name's Chameleon. What's yours?" he asked. The other creature stared for a moment before responding.

"Samuel." he said.

"Aw, home come you got an actual name and I got a number?" Cham pouted, sliding his arms through the metal bars so his elbows rested on one of the horizontal sections. "There's no way you're an experiment like me." he added, looking at Samuel with interest. "What are you?"

"Alien."

"From where?" Cham pressed, but Samuel just shrugged. "You don't know?" he asked. Sam shrugged again. "You just don't wanna tell me?" he stood, scraping his horns against the steel. This time Samuel didn't answer. "I see."

Weaknesses:

Extreme cold = enclosure temp. must be above 25*C (77*F) If this is not maintained, he becomes drowsy, extremely irritable, and the colder it gets, he the less he can move (he is cold-blooded like a reptile)
Harnesses/collars/shackles - any form of physical binding prevents him from camouflaging

Behaviour: Grumpy, mean, strong-willed, stubborn and mischievous, Chameleon doesn’t play well with others. He likes to keep to himself, napping throughout the day but causing chaos and playing tricks at night. He hates being contained and has a seething hatred for most scientists, head-butting/ramming the walls of his enclosure when anyone gets too close.

Reason for relocation: At his previous lab, Anomaly#86 was a troublemaker and the scientists that worked there couldn’t figure out how to keep him enclosed. He had learned how to appear as if he’d escaped and trick them into thinking he’d escaped when he hadn’t. He would get into brawls with other anomalies and would come quite close to killing them, using his acid and choking them with his tongue. He refused to look other dragons in the eyes when he first arrived at the lab, knowing how it affected other dragons, but after he’d spent more time there, he started doing it as a defence mechanism. Scientists were often wounded by him and nearly killed, and he needed to be contained in a new facility that could handle him.
