I. When he was in his egg, Chert was left under a pile of rocks, with no indication of what family he may have belonged to, where his previous home was, and what had happened to entail him being left. And these questions have never left him, from he emerged from the hard earth egg until now. And he has tried to answer this, on his own, and further on, with the help of others. He entailed several dragon's help, who claimed that they could find his family in exchange for hospitality, which is how his clan formed. and recruited friends to go on patrols to attempt to find some other clan that could house his parents. He even created plushes, his family being one of them, to try and get an image of who his parents were, using his own features as reference. II. One day, he went with his best friend, Icy, on yet another one of his quests to find his clan when he actually stumbled upon a small camp. There he had found his parents, but they were nothing like he imagined. They were on the run because they have murdered another, and they did not want to be killed. They left him on that cliff face because they did not want their egg to inevitably be crushed. |

Chert, being the one-sided dragon that he was, became heartbroken to learn about where he came from. The dreams he had of reuniting with his family were gone, leaving only the fear over who had created him. It was then that he got involved in several dangerous acts to change himself. With the help of a claimed "witch", he tried to change everything about him so that he would not look anything like his parents. And for a while, it worked. His patterns were more intricate, his colors changed, and he looked indistinguishable from his previous self. However, he was not satisfied. He attempted a potion that claimed to change him into a Skydancer, the opposite of his original breed of mirror, but due to the potion having the wrong label, he, unbeknownst to himself for several weeks, has changed into a wildclaw.
III. Finally disappointed and ashamed of himself for what he tried to do after, he retreated into his birthplace, hiding after the mistake. He realized what he had done, and never wanted to taint his behavior on others. And everyone left him for the most part- he was their leader after all, and he established early they would listen to him. Except for one day, another male named Nute investigated. He was a tracker, and an excellent fighter, and had been recruited three weeks before the reveal of Chert's parents. One he found his leader, he, unlike what Chert commanded, stayed and attempted to console him, and hung out with him until Chert finally believed in what he was doing, and also fell in love with Nute.
After nearly a month of this, Chert decided to head back with his newfound partner and created a better clan for the sake of who was left. Sure, he was not the perfect leader- and he did make mistakes and broke down several times, but he always managed to pick himself up with the motivation to help others, and bring the hospitality and caringness that he had missed in his early years.
