Biography
She was lost. Maybe.
Perhaps it didn't count if she'd been like this for as long as her tiny mind could remember.
She was on a marble bridge, connecting to places that seemed precise opposites, one fading into the next at the exact place she sat.
One side was dark purple, quickly dissolving into darkness. Glowing blue mushroom glinted eerily out of the shadows. The towering trees had twisted branches, staring at her with jagged eyes in their trunks.
The other was bright and shimmery, light dancing over the yellow grass. Even the bushes seemed to glow. A crumbled ivory pillar stood nearby, a stone structure nearby seeming to beckon her towards them.
She paused, looking between the two. She moved, and realized her back half was in this sort of round container, glowing blue bubbles on the gray surface.
She pulled herself out, staring at it. Did she come from it? It looked like it belonged with the glowing mushrooms. Did she come from there? Was she supposed to go back? Her young brain couldn't quite comprehend the world around her, but she seemed to belong on the dark side of the bridge.
The Nocturne freed herself from the shell, then after a pause picked it up. It was slightly bigger than her, but lighter. As she didn't she caught sight of her talons.
She dropped the shell and it cracked, but she didn't mind much. She opened and closed her talons, fascinated by how it moved in sync with what she wanted it to do. After properly spent time exploring her full range of motion, she picked up the shell again.
But then the little hatchling paused, the eggshell pieces balanced on her arms. Which way should she go?
She stood there for a while, looking between the two as if waiting for someone to swoop in and tell her what to do. Finally, she waddled towards the yellow brightness.
Leaving the shadows behind.

Perception hadn't meant to wander so far west, but now the purple trees of the Tangled Wood was visible. But she wasn't focused on how close she was getting. More interesting was the Nocturne hatchling staring up at her.
The small purple thing had many other colors peeking through, oranges and greens and blues. She cocked her head, mirroring Perception, and the Imperial suddenly noticed something else — two things, actually.
First, her talons carried the remains of a blue and gray egg, and her eyes were light purple. A Shadow dragon. Perception stared at the hatchling for another moment, then picked her up.
The Nocturne squirmed in her talons, still clinging tight to her egg. She spread her wings, and Perception noticed the eye shaped patterns along the undersides. Like a peacock, a male peafowl.
Peafowl…
The name seemed to fit. Perception turned, slowly moving back to her clan, the new member in her arms. "You're name is PeaFowl," she whispered, even though the newborn certainly couldn't understand.
"Puhfowrrrr…." The Nocturne whined.
It was a start.
