Baldwins Apprentice!

SpiritSeeker, is a greedy and sneaky Skydancer, and is Baldwins apprentice. Baldwin found SpiritSeeker whenever he left his cauldron unattended to help his previous apprentice, and she snuck in and took control of the cauldron. SpiritSeeker loves alchemy with all of her heart. Ever since SpiritSeeker was a child, she looked up to Baldwin and began studying the arts of alchemy in her own nest, some even say she practiced while still in her egg! She was known for causing explosions when she tries her experiments, which is why she goes by the name Miss Chaotic. When she goes out to collect ingredients when she gets low, she gets dressed up into her outfit to hide her identity and she goes collecting. She has once disturbed the Plague Mother in her sleep when she thought the boils on the Plague Mothers skin were actually hidden ingredients no one could touch, but after apologizing and explaining her task, the Plague Mother showed her the best place to get ingredients for her experiments, and ever since her and Plague Mother have been close tied. Now that she works and learns from Baldwin, she sometimes sneaks out at night from her perch and visits the patients to somehow find a cure for them, hopefully she could get the cured and be well known throughout the community.

An Entry From SpiritSeekers Journal
11-11-190
This morning I woke up to Baldwin grumpily shaking my tail with his hard grasp, not seeming to like something. I opened my beautiful yellow eyes and muttered, still half asleep. "W-what...? Whats going on?" He looked me in the eyes and raised an eyebrow. "Do not 'what' me, I know you favor alchemy and all,but you need to stop breaking the glass beakers, they just dont grow on trees!" I blinked at him in shock, dumbfounded by the fact that he of all people would accuse me of breaking beakers when I, aswell as everyone here, use them. I shot him a glare and got up, my wing in an awkward position. "You accuse ME of breaking the beakers when you damn well know I was asleep?" He flinched back at my tone and I softened my gaze and apologetically pressed my cheek on his and sighed, after everything he'd done for me and I yelled at him? I opened my eyes and wrapped my tail around his leg and led him to the broken beakers, a yellow goo like substance seemed to be spread around the room aswell, and thats when I saw it, a Lux Spectre was in the corner, staring at me with those ghoulish purple eyes, it seemed scared. "Well, sir I found the problem" I padded into the room and flinched at the pain of glass under my feet as I moved towards the anomaly. Right away I tried getting rid of it before sighing and just letting it stay in my room, Baldwin doesnt know, and I dont think he ever will, just as long as he doesnt come into my room . . .

An Entry From Baldwins Journal

There was a bit of an incident yesterday. I found a few beakers smashed on the floor not long after I had seen SpiritSeeker leave for the afternoon and went to confront her about it. I hadn't expected her to raise her voice at me for the accusation. I suppose I might have been snappish with her first, I wasn't in the greatest mood to begin with.

As it turns out, she hadn't been the one to break the beakers after all, and we instead discovered a Spectre that had knocked them down. Having already had a tiring day, I left Spirit to take care of it and headed back to my chamber.

She told me she managed to scare it away and hasn't seen it again. But, I will be honest, that girl is a terrible liar. I get the feeling she's hiding it somewhere.
I suppose I don't mind, so long as I don't have to replace any more beakers in the future.

The next day

Spiritseekers POV

This morning i woke up in my chamber to the sound of Elliot and Radiance causing some sort of fuss, so i headed out, making sure my feathers and wings looked perfect and neat in the presence of the foundations richest woman. As i headed out, i avoided contact with Elliot and made my way on over, wondering what the fuss was about. "Hello M'lady" I said in a joking fashion as i smiled a bit, hoping she would get a laugh from it as well, just like I could. "May I just inform you, please do not wake me up this early in the morning with your...problems. Its highly rude in my turn because i need to be refreshed for Baldwins lessons later on today. Were making a familiar." I could feel my muzzle getting warm and my toes getting tingly as i felt Elliots gaze hit my back. I soon turned to him and gave him the 'Please Don't Look At Me Like That' look. I then headed back to my chamber with some food for the Spectre i was keeping in my chamber, and a few minutes later, there was a ratta-tat-tat on my door, I quickly hid the Spectre under my bed and i opened the door, thinking it was Baldwin. When i thrust my head out of the door, my nose made contact with Elliots, and i flinched away in part disgust, part embarrassment. I then looked at him with a very ****** off vibe and held back a snarl. "Elliot, the hell are you doing here?" i spat out instead, still seeming very ****** off from the ordeal this morning. He handed me a summons scrool and i sadly watched him run down to his chamber. I walked into Baldwins chamber and yawned, yelping loudly as some stray glass peirced my foot painfully, what a great way to wake Elliot and PB up. I sat down beside Baldwin and put my front claws on the Cauldron and gazed into it, waiting for Baldwin...

Elliots POV

This morning was as frustrating as ever.
Baldwin requested to spend the morning alone, letting me know there had been a lab accident the other day and that we had beakers to replace.
It gave me an extra hour of free time, so I headed back to my personal lab to run some errands I had been putting off until then. Unfortunately, I ran into Radiance in the hallway. She began going off about how "If you're going to keep breaking your supplies, I am not going to pay for new ones!"
I was not at all in the mood to deal with her. I responded (perhaps not the wisest thing to say), "A few beakers isn't really going to cost that much. It isn't a big-"
She cut me off, raising her voice to a startling degree, "How dare you! You are using my money for your experiments, I expect you not to be so careless with my generosity!"
I hastily tried to apologize and calm her down, knowing others were probably asleep right now.
Surprise surprise, we happened to wake up young SpiritSeeker. As soon as I saw her, I decided to just stay quiet. I didn't need the wrath of two Skydancers. I was relieved when she ignored me and went straight to Radiance. They seemed to share a good laugh about something as I promptly tuned out of the conversation.
I was snapped back to reality when I saw SpiritSeeker giving me a look and realized I had been staring at her. I hastily turned away, now somewhat embarrassed.
Once she'd left, Radiance turned to me again and said, "You ought to be more like her. Now there's a real professional. You can't expect to do your job well being as meek as you are."

I felt my blood boil from that remark. I thought I had seen the worst of haughtiness and self-importance in Pearlcatcher dragons, but Skydancers. They are some of the very worst.

With a sigh of dread, I remembered that I had a summons for SpiritSeeker from Baldwin. Carefully, I knocked on her chamber door. The door swung open and her head flew out, catching me on the nose. I stumbled back in suprise.
Angrily, she demanded to know why I knocked. With a short huff, I handed her the scroll. "You have a summons from Baldwin to meet him in his chamber."
I didn't give her a chance to respond and bolted down the hall as swiftly as possible. My motivation to be working in my lab completely disintegrated, I rushed into my chamber and curled into my bed, thankful to be alone again.
Despite being one of the dragons that founded the Facility, I seem to be treated with a ridiculous lack of respect around here.
