Biography
As their clan grew, Kuro and Peepo were eventually in need of a healer to assist them on their hunting journies. They were unable to grow stronger without fighting stronger creatures, which they would need assistance with. Out they searched, asking other clans of dragons if they knew of any healers they could buy the services of, with no luck.
During this time, Bonito had recently left their own clan. Shunned for wanting to support and heal rather than hurt other living creatures. They were shunned and made fun of for their "weakness."
"Stupid! Healing is for weaklings!" "You're good for nothing, Bonito." "Nobody likes you!"
He'd had enough, and left to fend for themselves. After all, he had a few ice spells had they ran into trouble, and as many potions as he could fit under his feathers.
Bonito struggled to defeat the lower leveled creatures he encountered, which he expected, but was still surprised to be exhausted so quickly. When he decided to set up a nest in a safe space to sleep for the night, he heard a dragon cry in the distance, as if they were in pain. Bonito ran quickly to aid the dragon, and he saw a red Fae and a yellow Gaoler dragon fighting, if you would call it fighting, against a large hippo creature.
Unable to bear seeing the lower-level dragons in pain, Bonito jumped to the rescue, casting an aid and a regeneration spell on each of them. Bonito continued to sustain the two dragons until the large hippo was defeated. The Fae and Mirror dragons thanked Bonito and introduced themselves as Kuro and Peepo.
Kuro explained that he was the leader of his clan, and that they had been looking for a healer dragon for quite some time. He offered the young Coatl dragon to join his clan. "I'd love to! But.." What if they mock me like my friends....? He reluctantly declined, but took them back to the nest camp he had made for the night so they could get some rest before going back home.
They all fell asleep around a small, controlled fire. In the midst of the night, Bonito awoke to the sound of a large dragon's wingbeat as they descended. They nudged at Kuro with her nose, attempting to awaken the Fae until he grumbled and stretched his wings before he yawned and opened his eyes. "Kuro!," the dragon, which due to the voice he could tell was a female.
"Kuro. who is this?"
Kuro responded: "This is Memphis, my mate." Memphis nodded as he said this.
Now, the concept of a small Fae dragon such as Kuro being mates with a big, tall Imperial dragon amused Bonito, and he couldn't help but chuckle at the thought. Memphis ignored the chuckle. "Kuro, there's an emergency. The disease is spreading quickly. It's gone from only infecting a small numbers to almost all of the young and elderly dragons!"
Bonito had heard of this disease before. Since his old home had no need for healers, the medical den had been turned into a hatchling den. In this den, there were many types of diseases and ingredients clawed into the walls.
"I've heard of this before! All you need to cure them is a concoction made of Broadleaf Plantain, which happens to be decently easy to come by in this region, as well as back home."
Peepo suddenly awakened, having understood every word of the conversation, even while she was asleep. "What does this plant look like? I'm the fastest of us, so I can gather it quickly."
To the other two dragons, Bonito explained how to prepare the medicine and serve it to the sick. Kuro thanked him and they left to treat the ill dragons back at their home.
The next morning, Bonito felt he should have joined them to help their ill. He felt regrets about not accepting Kuro's request to join their clan as their healer. Lastly, Bonito felt alone. More alone than he had in a long time after leaving his clan. Bonito let out a sigh and doused the campfire before putting safely his belongings under his feathers. He began to walk slowly, kicking rocks along the way, still thinking about his encounter the night before. Still feeling regretful.
Bonito happened upon a river, and begun to feel thirsty. He leaned down to drink some water. Out
of the corner of his eye, he saw a bright yellow blur pass by and stop right next to him. Huh?
An exhausted, out of breath Peepo put her claw on Bonito's arm, with tears in her eyes. "Please help. The medicine you had us give to all of the ill worked great. There's just one hatchling that it won't work on. She's getting worse, she can't even move."
After saving the hatchling, Kuro insisted upon having a feast in honor of Bonito, and once again asked the Coatl to join their clan. This time, feeling confident, Bonito accepted. This clan will need a healer, and Bonito was the dragon for the job.
