Reese

The beating heart of the Hub, where dragons come from all over the lair to chat, eat, and make merry, is busy day-round. A scrawny Skydancer preens proudly to a grumpy-looking Banescale while a Bogsneak watches with a bemused expression, guarding a series of dark potions. Golden ink writhes within a nearby cave mouth, and coalesces into scrolls, sealed with wax and carried by bright golden birds which fly above you, off to unseen dens in the lair or elsewhere across Sornieth.

Through the center, winding through the various dragons, a pink Skydancer with a brilliant bronze arm guides a small flock of hatchlings. It seems as though some lesson is going on, as the dragonets file nicely behind her stop to look at a merchant with a golden cat familiar. The hatchlings all pipe up and ask questions, and are answered with a gentle smile and a quiet explanation. One baby asks to pet the kitty, who steps down from his pedestal, stretches, and is promptly swarmed by excited hatchlings.

“Reese,” Chevalix says from her perch draped across your neck. “She’s the guide for our little ones, helps them find jobs they’d like and develop their skills, then helps them spread their wings and leave the nest. It’s a vital role, but I’m a little embarrassed to say we didn’t have much in the way of that before she came."

Pride shines in her eyes as she watches the group. Once more, she seems content to stand back and admire her Clan instead of engaging them.

“It took a while for her to find her place, and then to discover her purpose here. Full years of her life went by, unnoticed by most, until Faust brought her home as a last ditch effort when she lost her arm, but just look at her now!”

Reese, across the Hub, laughs as a tiny Imperial attempts to climb her like a tree. The other rowdy ones begin to chase each other, the excitement of petting a cat having gotten to them. The Hub is filled with playful shrieks and weak bursts of lightning, but Reese looks pleased as she goes to join them. Lesson time, it seems, can wait a minute when there’s fun to be had.
