Biography
When had it become so silent?
The cries of war and clashing of steel had seemed to all-too suddenly fade until all that remained was the gentle sound of waves playing against the sandy shore. There were still others there, still pointing gleaming edges at him. But to him, they were nothing more then seafoam, dispersing into nothingness over the waves of reality. Phantoms.
A sensation grasped at his leg, and the dark-horned creature looked down to find what it was. There was another, a familiar face that peered up towards him with pained eyes. A call came from one of the armor-clad enemies who were closing in, but it didn't register to him. All he could hear were the waves, calling to him. Calling him home.
He knelt, then slid his arms under his ally, lifting them easily. Paying no mind to the advancing forces, he turned and set his gaze to the ocean. He should go home. They all should.
One by one, he paced to and from the ocean, each time placing another of his people into the waves, where they could escape. The knights had stopped, watching the creature with expressions of bewilderment.
With his final companion in grasp, he stepped further into the water, not looking back at those he had once called enemies. Their fight was far from over, but neither had the strength to fight on. The waters were beginning to run red, and even those he had returned to the water hadn't changed, hadn't yet moved.
The knights on shore watched in amazed horror as the silhouette of their enemy twisted into the long form of a great serpent, with large, folded wings at it's back. Even at the distance the creature was, it's tail slid to the shore, gathering those who still lay there within it's grasp and dragging them further out to sea.
They may have lost this battle, but the war was not over yet.
