Next to him a pearlcatcher offers jewelry and to the other side is a guardian with pulwar and shotel. Most of the business is his. Across the street a spiral dances in a cloud of sand to a buzuq and a tabla. He has had his eyes on her for some time now, but has not found the courage to speak with her. He lets a few customers walk by as he watches her furl and unfurl her body like an elegant snake. His silks flutter in the arid desert air.
