Her mother, Rozsada, explained to Morass at a very young age what her father Sherwood was. Though he was once his own dragon, the mysterious imperial had become an avatar of the nearby haunted woods many years ago. Thus, he is bound to the area and protects his woods and the land surrounding it. Morass is currently the only dragon in the clan aware of what her father truly is. When Rozsada left, neither Sherwood nor Morass were upset. Morass saying, "My mother is like the wind on this plateau. Always moving. We wouldn't have the heart to tie her down."

Regardless of her knowledge of her father as a generous and protective forest guardian, Morass greets every visitor to the Poppy Clan with the same thinly veiled warning: "If you harm our precious land, The Cloudsong save you."
