Cypher cared not for her past, only that she was welcomed into Three Blades Under as a resident almost immediately when she was personally escorted by the Clan Leader. The lair felt like a place she could make herself home in and eagerly made herself acquaintance with everyone with her outgoing personality.

The head of the House of Saber; Avalos, saw potential in her as a fighter and placed her under Amantia's personal care. In time, she grew to be a powerful fighter and a great teacher like her mentor. She could surpass him in physical fights but was no match to his hybrid magic and this frustrated her greatly.

Not wanting to be the underdog forever, she learnt the basics of hybridizing magic and adopted fire as her secondary element. Cypher was confident that with her lightning and fire she would create explosively damaging attacks that were far superior than Amantia's. She diligently studied the element of fire until she deemed herself prepared and challenged Amantia to a duel, with Wraith being the judge. However, the Ridgeback had only practiced the elements on their own and for the first time, Cypher combined the two elements in the face of her mentor.

The look of shock and horror on Amantia's face brought her glee that was quickly dashed away when she realised she was losing control of the elements in her grasp. Cypher howled in agony as her natural element rejected her, lightning streaking up her wings, the burning sensation of her nerves frying from the hybridized magic. Wraith was quick to deep freeze her body with ice, aided by the darkness of shadow to slow the damage spreading through her body. Cypher was taken to the laboratory to be treated but with no success.

The residents kept her in stasis and researched the detrimental combination of lightning and fire, but the damage on her body was too severe to be reversed or healed.

When awoken from her stasis, Cypher found she could not move her body from her neck down. They said her body was dead as the hybrid magic corrupted her vessel but her mind remained intact and trapped in. In despair she remained paralyzed in her bed, her body withering as the researchers did their best to keep her alive.

Eventually, she was visited by Amantia who looked down on her and berated her for wasting away instead of fighting to live.

Pride wounded she verbally lashed out at him, subconsciously drawing on strength she thought was long gone. She blamed him for pushing her this far, to make her take the risk; even though she knew all this was her own fault and undoing, she just could not admit in front of him. In an instant, flames burst out from her open wounds and she was walking, advancing towards the spiral who was oddly calm in the face of her wrath.

When she realised she could walk she was at loss at what to do, standing in front of her mentor who merely sniffed and stalked away. Caught up in her grief she had forgotten the miracles magic could bring, he told her this much as he left the laboratory. Cypher still stayed in her laboratory cell after that revelation, tentatively testing out her elements again under the supervision of the researchers until she felt ready again.

Upon leaving her containment cell, she worried about the residents treating her differently. Much to her relief, they all did their best not to treat her differently. Many were glad to see her walk again, but she quickly realised she was still a danger to everyone. The flames within her kept her body alive and the lightning that courses through her body helped her move, she was an unstable vessel with overcharged elements. It depressed her to know that she could no longer have company and she could no longer fight without endangering herself and everyone around her.

Asund, the head scientist, had attentively studied her case of hybrid magic and had approached her with a proposal. They could draw the extra charge she was emitting away from her body so she was at a lesser risk of becoming a threat, the charge could be used to help maintain the electrical demand the buildings in the Three Blades Under lair used. In addition, it should reduce the amount of fumes she was exhuming which would make it easier for other residents to approach her without choking on her smoke. Seeing that she had no other options, she agreed and moved into the House of Guillotine.
