Biography

Different religious groups believe in different things. Greihold has spent years recording his findings, and is proud to present you with these base facts about religion in this world:
GENERIC FACTS

-it is very rare to find a dragon who is not religious to some extent, simply because religions and deities have proof (their gods are real to some extent, though it can't be known just how accurate they are)
-a dragon's eye color does not have to match its religion, though it is common for their eyes to match both in eye color and religion
-religion plays less of a part in most modern dragon's lives than one would expect
-some religions deny the existence of other deities, and some do not
-The religious-based council was formed so that all dragons in the tribe could feel represented, and so as many viewpoints as were physically possible could be available to the un-aging clan leader.
-new gods are being created as a result of the decline of the old deities, though it can't be certain why

THE OLD GODS
There are 11 total worshippable deities in FR and, as a result, 11 different religious paths of the old gods. Greihold chooses to subscribe to a theory he and some others researched that the old gods were created back in a time when dragonkind was failing by virtue of it's own intolerance. The 11 were then created from martyrs and imbued with more magical power than other dragons, as well as immortality. These figures were used to bring dragons together, to keep them safe, and to help them survive. With time, they became too othered, too distant from dragonkind, and chose to retreat. However, those who worshipped them remained, and their worship helped the deities ascend past dragonkind into something else.

Greihold has yet to do research on the worshipping habits of these religions: WATER, GROUND, ARCANE

Greihold has helpfully provided some rough outlines of each religion and how they choose to worship. Look for some more of his findings in the elemental fae's bios, and other dragons, when applicable!

THE NEW GODS

Greihold has speculated that as the intensity of faith in the old gods declines, and as different things become more prevalent in culture than simply old faith, the old deities themselves are beginning to lose their immortality, their sway, and their magic. Some may be have already been in decline, some may have more recently become weakened. (Greihold and Kune are going to begin work together to better understand how the deities themselves function.) It's speculated that as the old deities release more of their energy into the world, half-formed gods and goddesses are popping up. Maybe it's something about keeping balance, maybe there's a certain amount of godly power to go around, and it's unchanging, like energy. However, without a strong following, and lacking memory of their purpose, these demi-gods hold little sway over the way of the world. Many don't believe that these dragons even are budding deities, and some claim that they're nearly blessed disciples. Greihold will speculate further with time and understanding, how they will truly impact religion in this world.

He's found two so far...

The Desert Queen: Sekhmet
Sekhmet was born of distrust for the deities, brought back to life and filled with the life force of a desert. She has magic levels off the charts, to the point where she can't even be measured through the typical system Kune has devised, and she's angry. Filled with rage and distaste, adrift and unsure of who she was, Sekhmet is a new god that could easily overtake the old deities if she could ever find them.

The Ocean King: Callisto
Callisto was born out of grief for the deities. When faith failed him and his family and they were drowned at sea, he was reanimated with the life force of an ocean. Unlike his counterpart, Callisto is more laid back, has taken more time to try and discover who he is, and could see himself working with the old gods if he ever encountered them.
