The Beginning wrote:
Aacahe was looking for more junk to add to her backpack, and Moetery was not impressed. If anything, he was thankful not to have to carry them -- his partner was very adamant on the fact that it was 'her raw materials' and that 'she didn't need anybody handling it clumsily'. Which was, if Moetery was honest, kind of a low blow; he wasn't clumsy, thank you very much. Besides, he only let the things fall once. Okay, twice. Well, many more than-- Whatever.
"We should find a place to rest," he told Aacahe matter-of-factly. "The sun is setting."
She stared at him, her wings flapping lazily. "I noticed, I'm not blind. But you're right. Have you seen any place around here we could use?"
Moetery thought about it. Actually...
"Yes, there's this opening a bit farther, that's got a huge weeping willow."
Aacahe's eyes lit up. She loved weeping willows. Maybe even more than she loved him-- but that was a thought for another day.
"Let's go check it then," she said, already tracing back their steps, huge bag bouncing and clinking onto her back. "I'm sure it'll be nice. You tend to have a good eye for sleeping spot."
Unknowingly to his mate, Moetery blushed at the praise. They were rare, but always welcome, never failing to make him feel special. He followed her through the huge trees and bushes, until they reached a small glade, bordered by a lot of very luxuriant trees. On the left side, between an oak and a bunch of birches, was a big, pale green weeping willow, its leaves hanging down like a waterfall. Aacahe immediately went to it, but stopped a few feet away, looking down.
"What is it?" Moetery asked, suddenly worried that there were some venomous mushrooms in the clearing. "Did you find something?" he questioned, flying to were she was standing.
"Indeed I did," she replied, a strange tone in her voice.
"What is it?"
She turned to him and smiled, the first genuine smile in a while. "Spearmint."
