Biography
When the Chapter received a snow globe as part of an offering, it was put to one side. It was deemed a small and worthless trinket with no use and no magical properties.
Tucked away upon a shelf, the snow globe collected dust for many years as it waited patiently for someone, anyone, to pick it up.
A hand passed over the glass, wiping away the veneer of grey dust that had clung to its cool surface. Inside of the snow globe, there was nothing at all, just fluttering motes of artificial snow.
The man turned it over in his hand, looking between the snow globe and the extra books piled onto the wooden trolley. There was no room for something like the snow globe, the books took precedence over everything.
Putting the snow globe aside, his finger brushed over the cleared glass and he felt something against his fingertip. It was cold, icily so, like coming into contact with the very essence of a blizzard. The man paused and looked down at the globe. It was innocuous at first, there was absolutely nothing remarkable about it.
Until it did become remarkable.
A susurration stirred over his skin and he shivered. The topmost book on the trolley flipped and fell off it, thudding onto the ground where its pages were laid bare. The whisper grew into a wind that flipped through the pages mercilessly, one after another.
The snow globe cracked, the fracture running rapidly over the surface. The man staggered back a step and stared as the snow globe broke open. A cloud of snow rushed out to meet him, blinding him with the cold intensity that bit icy needles into his cheeks.
When he finally opened his eyes again, the shelf and trolley were covered in an inch of ice. Tiny icicles had taken the liberty of hanging themselves from the lengths of the shelves and his breath misted before his lips as he exhaled.
Most remarkable of all was the dragon, a diminutive creature that was curled up on the torn pages of a manuscript. It was the color of frost and ice and it blinked up at him with eyes that were as soft as virgin snow.
A new and powerful dragon had been born in the Chapter, one birthed from an unassuming snow globe.
The Chapter learned an important lesson on that day. Anything, anyone, can be special.
Other lore notes: His familiar, the frozen goblin, is many times his size and cradles him in his arms. Robin sleeps in the fur of the goblin's tail.
Robin smells like ice cream.
